Can someone walk me through the procedure to put drums to a song? I
have the drums I want saved and named but I cant find them after I
press [Loop Phrase] and "By Track" I think this is where I'm doing
something wrong.
I have the song done with markers where I want them but I can put the
drums in. Will someone please help me get pass
this? I've only had the Br-1600 for four days and I really like it, I
know it will do what I'm wanting but I'm stuck.

I will try to help. I assume you know what you named the drum sequences, and whether they are User, or Song drum patterns. Generally, you don't put the drums on a loop phrase track. I suppose you could do this, if you recorded the drum audio, then assigned it to a loop phrase. However, if you are using drum patterns stored on the BR, then you just need to define one of the stereo tracks (usually 15/16) as a drum track. Then, make sure the 'arrange' light is lit, and hit the edit button. You will then see 'function key tabs' and you want to select drums. From this screen, you can start assigning the drum patterns you created to measures in the song. Don't forget to save the arrangement when you are done. I always save these as a SONG arrangement, since generally speaking that arrangement would never apply to any other song. I do the same thing with the patterns. I have had mine for 4 months or so now, and have gotten pretty familiar with it. It WAS a struggle for me too at first, but the machine is really cool. YOu might check other BR1600 posts on this forum because I answered another guys drum question there too...maybe more detail there about creating the patterns. Hope this helps.

sp clark, Thanks i was way off track the way i read the manual i thought i had to run my drums through a loop phrase to put them to my song. I think i'm on the right track now. I only have one drum pattern created and its the intro for my song i'm trying to take it one step at a time. I want my drums to start when my guitar starts, i have a marker set up where the song starts, but for some reason theres a drum pattern before my marker that plays how can i get rid of the drums? I called Boss and talk to someone and hes talking measures and beats and drums, and i have no idea what is he talking about, Is there not a way to just create drum patterns inbetween the markers in the song? Thanks for all the help this is frustrating as hell........

I'm not being critical here, but if you are unclear on the meanings of beats, measures etc, you are really going to struggle. What you need to do is make sure that there is NO pattern selected in the measures where you don't want drums....and that the pattern you want to play IS selected in the same measure where your guitar starts. In the upper left of the 'arrangement edit screen', you can use the jog dial to scroll through the measures 1 by 1. For measures (where your Mark is) where you WANT a pattern to play, enter that pattern in the proper spot on the screen (lower left I think) and then tell it how many measures to play that pattern. At the end of that, if you want the drums to stop, you just get rid of the reference to the pattern. When you get ready to PLAY the song with the drums, make sure the arrangement light is lit, so that it PLAYS the arrangement (drums) you just created. If it is NOT lit, track 15/16 will just play the same pattern over and over when you start play. Hope that helps. Hang in there, the learning curve is steep, but the climb is worth it.

Thanks a lot Steve, you've got me on my way and I really appreciate it. I created a user drum track with no drums in it and set the measure to (3) and it fit perfectly.
I created another drum pattern for my first change up but I can't seem to get it to start in time yet. I think I will figure it out eventually, the best thing is my frustration level has dropped about 300 "measures" :) thanks again Steve.

I don't think you need to have a 'blank' drum pattern, just 'delete' or 'clear' (can't remember which) the pattern in those first 3 (or whatever) measures. The other thing you need to make sure of is that the tempo of your arrangement matches the tempo of your song. The pattern can be created at ANY tempo, but the arrangement must match your other tracks. You probably have the tempo set to like 130 or something (I think that is the default) and it is slower or faster than your song. Just figure out the tempo, and change that value in the arrangement edit screen. Also, if the song changes tempo at any point, you enter these changes in the tempo map. Sounds like you're makin progress!!!!

I have a new problem, I redid the song and recorded it with the metronome playing so I would stay in time, now I cant get the drums to start when the music starts. The drums start just before the guitar and it throws every thing off, any idea what I not doing right?

You HAVE to make sure that your guitar (or other instruments) start on exactly the first beat of whatever measure it starts on. The reason for this is that is the place where the drums will ALWAYS start...right on that first beat. My guess is that if you watch the measures/beats and how they relate to where your guitar comes in, you'll see they are not at the same time. A good way to find that spot is to use Scrub. You hit the play and stop (I think) buttons at the same time, and that lets you use the jog dial to very gradually move through the frames (very small segments of the recorded track) to hear where it starts. Make sure you select the guitar track by pressing the track button while in this mode. Listen carefully for the first audible sound from that track. It should align with the first beat of the starting measure. If it does not, then you need to 'move' that entire track to that starting beat. To do this, use Utility/Track/Move, then select the starting position (the exact position where the guitar comes in) and the ending position (the end of the track I presume) and then move it to the position that corresponds to the first beat of the starting measure. I use the 'punch in / punch out' buttons to mark these types of starting/ending positions, as I have found it easier than setting marks for them. Hope this helps.

Help Please!

I need to know how to record from the br-1600 burnt CD recordings into wav files so i can play them on my computer...I have found the br-8 .wav converter, but have need to find the br-1600 .wav converter if anyone could send me the link it would be much appreciated.

THanks.

After you record your tracks on the BR-1600, punch the Bounce button, this record your tracks to 9/10 (bounce tracks). Than master your song, punch the Master button, and run your songs thru the different Mastering presets until you find a preset you like. Than punch the CDr-WRITE button, insert a blank disc, chose the song to burn to CD and burn it. The CD will have your songs as a wav file, no conversion needed.

I don't believe the results of the above post will be WAV form data. The book describes the process on page 209-210. Once the tracks are recorded, you can select them as the source for tranforming to WAV format through the DATA SAVE/LOAD button. Then select the WAVE function key, then export, then the source tracks to be converted. Within these screens, you can select the type of output either WAV or AIFF. Once all the parameters are entered, and assuming you've placed a CD in the drive, you should be able to write the tracks in WAV format, and bring them into your computer.

Hope that helps.

How do you take the tracks recorderd on the BR1600 and say....dump the tracks into SONAR for editing. I use SONAR, my drummer uses a BR1600. I used to use a BR8 and would dump the track with the wave converter into cool edit pro and do that (kinda redundant dont you think) well I have seen the err of my ways, but I still want to import his drum tracks so I can dump them into SONAR track by track and edit them.
