So I have really been struggling with interfaces. I have had been trying to get my protools to work with my m-audio fastrack for a year. Protools wont open because it says the interface isn't pluged in, so I guess it doesn't work. Does anyone know what up with it? Or should I get a new interface? If so which one would be best for protools m-powered 7? I am poor and need something that is best for the price. Thank You

Look down the list in your Protools disc.
I think you need at least the Fast Track Pro.
Having said that, I never got mine to work either.

I guess the digidesign interfaces should work abs digidesign is a ProTools developer?

Digidesign Interfaces

Now it's only left to deside how many channels of simultaneous recording you need and what connection you want USB 2.0 or Firewire

Cheerz!!

it should be working for you. From M-Audio:

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 requires a supported M-Audio hardware peripheral to function. Please visit http://www.digidesign.com/compato/ for a current list of compatible M-Audio hardware peripherals, current system requirements, compatibility information, and online support. Please install the latest driver for your M-Audio peripheral before updating to Pro Tools M-Powered 7.

uninstall PT and try updating your driver...then reinstalling PT.

I have the same problem....

My Pro-tools will not recognize my Fastrack Ultra. Running XP3 trying to launch M-powered PT 7.4 all is compatible I-lok in place but now workie. I have uninstalled everything, even did a system restore back to the day before I got the PT 7.4
no go. I have been using the Fastrack for about a year with abelton live.
Giving up...Please advise.

You gotta be careful with some of these M-Audio interfaces. I used to have the same problem with my Mobile Pre (Pro Tools saying its not connected). Open up the M-Audio control panel and check the status. When you have a program like Windows Media Player or Youtube open, it "disconnects" Here are some pics of what I mean:

You need it to say "connected" to open up Pro Tools

Make sure you have the latest drivers. Worst case scenario, I've had to physically disconnect and reconnect the usb cable, and on occasion restart the computer. I wish these cheaper M-audio interfaces weren't so finicky. This problem alone makes me want to go LE with an M-box of something.

Still can't launch M-Powered Pro Tools 7.4

Windows XP3
Fastrack Ultra w/latest drivers from M-Audio
M-Powered Pro Tools 7/4 w/ patch downloaded from Digidesign site.
I-lok dongle with latest driver installed
Dell 200 PC 4 gigs ram 200 gig HD 2.8 processor

What is missing? I have been running the Fastrack Ultra with Abelton Live 6.0 for about a year now with no troubles. Anyone got any ideas?
When I try to launch PT it stalls with no warning or error message...just doesn't light up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
