I need help with a digital recorder

I am trying to find a cheap digital recorder. I have been looking on the internet, but all the ones with cd burners cost a lot more. What do you use if there isin't a cd burner? If you have any ideas, please contact me. Thanks.

If there isn't a CD burner, you have to play your mixes into a computer or a stand alone CD recorder. There will also be no way for you to backup any of your tracks, so once it's full you will have to erase everything to make more room. You need the CD burner if you must go with one of these digital recorders.

It can be cheaper to get a small behringer mixer (under $100) and an m-audio interface ($100-$400 depending) and get audacity or some other free or insanely cheap recording software. This way, when you outgrow the system, you don't have to throw the whole thing away and start over.

second that, perhaps minus the Blehringer mixer the only reason i can see to buy a standalone recorder is if you want to move it around. by far the best thing to do is go the computer-based recording route. it will offer you more tracks than your standalone rec, better automation, more processing etc etc.

this all depends on your computer of course. what sort of specs do you have? don't worry, you dont have to have a super-computer to record with!

Are you looking for a little portable 2 channel type of thing? Or a more involved multi-track stand alone digital recorder?
