I've asked over at the Native Instruments forum, but got nothing yet.
I'll copy and paste what I posted there. And references to "here" refers to their place.

I've had maschine for about a week now, and love it.

I've been doing research and have found out that apparently it is possible to send sound from individual pads to audio tracks in cubase (I already know how to drag and drop). Not that my aim is necessarily to route each pad to a track, sometimes I might, but most of the time I would probably just need to route the main out of maschine into a track. But if I can learn how to do all, why not?

Problem is I'm having a hard time finding detailed instructions on how to do so.
I mean I right click and see "Out 1-16" and all that stuff, but I'm not really sure how to set it up you know?
I tried going to VST connections and thought maybe I'd have to add the maschine outs as input busses in Cubase but I didn't see them.
As I said, I've been doing a lot of research including on this forum and found a thread with links to some videos that seemed like they would be the answer to my problems but they were removed by the user .

In one of the threads here I saw something along the lines of "but that is not possible in light versions of cubase like LE". Not sure if that was referring to routing to individual tracks though
I'm using LE5... does that mean that it's time for me to finally upgrade to Cubase 6?"

LE does not have the 'VST Instrument Rack' that allows sending outputs of a VSTi to separate tracks. You would need to upgrade. Hell, you want to upgrade. :)

Well, ok, good. I was losing my mind thinking I couldn't figure things out.

Now I finally have a reason to upgrade to 6 :D :D :D
I guess I'll put that $300 I was going to put into those controllers into a cubase 6 fund

That VST Amp Rack seems pretty cool.

Do I need to get one of those elicensers for 6?

There is a buttload of cool stuff in C6 other than the VST Rack. LE5 is way limited in many other ways man. Well worth the upgrade.

Cubase 6 'the program' is free. You purchase the license to use it. It is stored on the dongle that Cubase supplies when you pay for the license. The dongle is the only link to owning the use of C6. Lose the dongle, and have to buy the license again. Seriously, guard it with your life!!!! :D

If you buy cubase it should in most cases come with the little usb dongle aka license.

And any version above LE will be considerably better than LE. :D

Well I have 6 now :D and the dongle is stuffed safely into a rear usb port.

Sooo... can anyone out there walk me through setting this up :p?

I'm trying to figure out how to route the outputs of maschine to an audio track (or tracks) in cubase so I don't have to bother with maschines interface
