hey i'm looking for a tremolo stomp box or rack processor but i have no idea what i need. i really want something versatile with alot of vintage sound to it. any help would be greatly appreciated, i haven't looked to hard but what i'm looking at now is the line 6tap temolo, boss tr-2, guya tone vt-3, just the top models from musicians friend. i'm sure there are some great ones out there i just don't know where to start. i'dlike to keep it under 200 bucks. thanks! jason

i've heard alot of people say that but at the same time i've heard alot of people say the opposite, so i'm kindof on the fence on that one, i'm mainly looking at the line 6 tap tremolo, but i might go try that danelectro out just to form my own opinion, thanks for the tip. jason

Hmmm...Line6 makes one? I missed that in your last post. I don't dig their amps, but some of their FX are pretty cool. I've got an EchoPro I am very happy with.

For <$200 you could also try the TC Electronics M300. It has some very usable sounds (including tremelo) for the price. It also has tap tempo, midi control and digital i/o. Guyatone also makes a very vintage sounding tremelo pedal for ~$170, but you might have some impedance problems using a guitar pedal that would require a re-amp box.

Another rack unit in the same vein as the M300 is the Lexicon MPX110. I think it's sweetwater that's doing it for $170 at the moment. It's a multi effects box so you'll get choruses and 'verbs etc. as well as the tremelo effects.

which of these has tap tempo tremolos? anyone know? i know the line6 stomp box has one.. but it is apparently awkward to use.

I've been kinda nutso for Electro Harmonix's stuff lately. They've got two "vintage" tremolo units going:

The Pulsar (100 bucks)
The Wiggler (190 bucks - but its tube)

I think there are demos of the Wiggler at their website. I think it's ehx.com or something. Search google for electro harmonix, if you like.

I know the lex has a tap tempo button but I've never used it for the tremelo. I'll check that out when I get home.

EDIT: I just checked the manual and you can use the tap tempo button on the lex to set the tremolo rate.

it looked great, they also have a video demo of it. why awkward?

Boss pn2

You'll have to track one down because they no longer make it, but the BOSS
PN-2 tremolo/panner was an awesome device. It had 3 or 4 waveforms to choose from and had stereo outputs if you wanted to use it as a panning device and it was seafoam green!! Left clean and the right through an overdrive.......many possibilities. I mainly used it for the trem, it was sweet. I was 20 and broke...HEllO PAWNSHOP!! Wish I still had it.

has anybody used or heard anything about the voodoo lab tremolo pedal or the george dennis gd220 tremolo?

I love my Voodoo Labs Trem (4-knob version). Very flexible and easy to dial in great sounds.
