I have to make some loops and beats a project I am working on.
What is the easiest and best program to buy for a beginner?
I have Adobe audition and F-loops 3 I think.(have not uses F-loops in a very long time)
I also used acid a long time ago.

Thanks

Timboz,

How quick are you needing to do it. F-loops is cheaper, but some people see more of a learning curve with the newer versions.

Acid is good for looping IMO, but I've heard wavelab is good as well. I personally like Reason for beats and looping beats and Cubase for any vocal work that needs to be done, but I've used that for so long, I might be a little biased on that.

Let's see what other people have to recommend.

I had FL 3...it IS very easy if you just want to work with loops, but with Reason you can more easily (IMO) sequence longer patterns, but it really boils down to what kinda of music you are makin. If its techno, house, dancey type of stuff id go with FL, but anything else id say Reason hands down.

^Reason is great for dance and techno also...

Reason is $400 though, i dont know what type of budget your on, but if its cheap, reason might be out of your range.

if you go with something like acid...

your going to need to buy loops cds, or have external machines to play and record into acid.

whats your budget?
what type of music are you making?
how great of quality does it need to be?

I say for the Novice Keys player who can dictate notes, rhythm, and effects properly, you can't go wrong with Reason. If you play keys professionally you can't go wrong with Reason. I say that because, of course, I am a bit biased. Reason has allowed me to create more than I ever expected!
Reason all day Baby................

Thanks everyone, I'm gonna try Rebirth.
Reason looks nice but it's not in my price range yet.
Also I may give F-loops 3 another shot.

If price is an issue, you may be able to find Reason 2.5 on ebay now for a decent amount (if it's legit of course). It does well too. As people have said, Rebirth is mainly for drums, but it's still a good program to use for that.

Acid and FL Studio make a great combo, and it is ideal to by the cheap versions to get started and then buy the up grades for each when you need them. This is my suggestion for cost effecient, effective production. These two will take you where you need to go.

Take Good With You,

I'm considering Arturia Storm as an alternative to Reason. Anybody have any experience with this program. It's like $150 at MF. I, personally, just want to experiment with the technology without dropping that much cash for something I may not get into.

Storm is pretty cool. Its very similar to reason except it is a little more limited as far as patching and number of devices available. One nice feature is that it gives you kits for certain types of music so it has the setups premade.

One other one worth mentioning is Orion. Same deal as reason and storm but it adds VSTi support
