I need more compression on my vox.Using CWPA9.Singing thru a J-Station into a senheisser 835.There is no Compression plugin in the version I have,so the vox sounds flat.I tried to mess with the EQ and add little FX here and there, but it didn't help much.Give a listen and any suggestions would be greatly appretiated.Thanx...

HOLY CRAP!!!!

What an incredibly cool song. Dude, I like this better than anything I've heard you do with other singers. That's you singing, right? I'll wait 'til some more peeps hear this before I say who you sound a LOT like, but suffice it to say that I don't have any compression tips.

Hell yeah!!!

(roll some lows off of the mix, and it'll clear up a lot)

i thought it kicked ass as is. I highly recommend checking out the RCL from Waves. It's a very versatile and great sounding compressor plug-in.

And another thing...

After you do or don't roll the lows off the mix, post a pic in the Cave... that thread has been a real eye opener

(posting again b/c I'm listening again...man, going back to work is gonna' suck).

[edit] I listened about 20 times in a row. It's just the lows below about 80Hz, I think, but I'm really lame.

Thanx yous guys :D.Glad you could dig it.But as far as plug ins go,I'm a retarded pigeon and need detailed explanation to fly in the right direction.A link would help.Or PM me so I don't get embarrassed about how little I know...and ,not to be greedy, but a rating would be nice.Am I allowed to have one?I just hope the one star bandit doesn't read this first....Thanx again...look forward to more like this and a metal tune or 2...or 3...or 20

BAHAHAHAhahahaha... Hell yes, the whole business is about self-promotion, right? Man, that's funny. Hell, you should just skip the "asking" step rate it yourself. LMAO

c w/5

I should have done this earlier.

kick ass energy.... ah... nice changes... a wall of guitars you could see from outer space... "it's a malignancy"... "radiology"... this sounds like jamal if he got really, really pissed. lol. Ex-l-ant performance....

Do you track live? Or is this one track at a time? Pretty decent quality for limited equipment.

I don't think it's compression you need; I'm thinking a different mic? Could be askin' a bit much tho... finances being what they are.

Do you have a guitar amp? Have you tried goin' thru the j-station & out to the amp, and micing the amp? Works good for getting better "focus" on the guitar sounds in my experience.

I'll hit ya w/5, since the energy & lyrics are worth the price of admission.

I think I'll turn this up loud just in case.

:D

Very nice.

OK I hear maybe an over kill of lows like Chris said, and when I look at the Winamp Eq display, the lows are just about the only thing showing. So ya, I'd straight-line a low roll-off from 80Hz downward, preferably track by track. The bass is probably clashing with the gits...pretty typical. I'm not sure what you mean by the vocals are "flat." If you mean pitch, compression won't do shit for that...re-takes might though, but you can't get a plug-in for that. You could borrow CH's Auto-tune if you ask nicely I'll bet :D

This is a rockin' song man!

very cool song.....i love the guitar tone (was that J-Station)......

I think you need a preamp for vocals....you will REALLY be surprised how much a decent preamp will help.......some compression is in order for the vocal, but it wont be the fix that you are looking for......

Thanx-Fuck auto Tune...:o :o :o :o
I meant the vox is ..um...the coffee can thing again.Flat as in no girth, not outta tune.Don't let auto tune ruin a natural performance

[edit]Sorry ran out the door before...Thanx to:

Thanx FLG!!! :D

And yes,Lt. Bob,I'm Singing Thru the J-Station(No other preamp)Either that or my soundcard.

Well hell..........................I'll have to try that.

It is quite muddy in the low frequencies. Hard for me to identify where exactly. I can tell the kick is dull, I'd start by eq'ing it and building some foundation with that and the bass guitar (which I think would sound ok). Possibly one of the other guitar tracks (maybe the third one?) is creating some more unneeded low end murk.

As for the vocals, sound a little harsh - probably the J-Station. I don't think compression is the answer here. A different mic and pre probably.

Cool tune, high energy rock & roll!

SEE DUDE?!?! I told you so.

Emeric knows what he's talking about, and more importantly, he's cool, b/c he posted his picture in the CAVE. Only completely insecure DORK girls don't post their pictures in that thread.

*hint*

cut the lows from 80 down, dammit.

:D

Ass kicking tune. I like the changes. It is way to thick in the low end and not enough air on top. Get the kick defined a bit more, maybe a cut around 300hz and a boost 5-8khz and get it up in the mix. More snare too, maybe a little 8khz boost. I do think compression would help to get your vocal to sit in your mix. I'd back all the EQ out of the vocal and and a compressor. Speaking of which, go here and down load yourself one. I found a few free ones there and some you can purchase.
