Hi.

What I need is 8 analog I/O, and the option of hooking up 8 more sometime in the future.
I usually only record 2-4 tracks at a time, but several I/O's are used for re-amping as well, hence the demand for 8 or more I/O.
Based on a lot of websurfing, reading, dreaming and researching I have narrowed it down to either a Emu 1820M or the Layla3G.
I am torn between those two, because on one side the Emu looks like the best bet because of the converters and the flexibility of the Patchmix, but on the other side it's drivers arent the most stable (or so the rumours say) plus the fact that the WDM-drivers are only stereo.
From what I can figure the converters in the Layla may not be as good as the Emu, but it seems that Echo's drivers are rock-solid.
Right now I am leaning towards the Layla...

Any oppinions on this???

...please, don't say "Go for RME or Lynx" or something like that. I can't afford that, in fact I may be stretching it by going for the Layla... :-)
