i just recieved cakewalk sonar. i have a problem

Well i just got cakewalk sonar 2.0 but when ever i record audio or play the demo audio tracks that comes with sonar it sounds weird alittle late. and when i tried recording with my cheap mic it slowed it down. the midi demos they have sound fine. I have a soundblaster live card in my computer. I have a delta 44 on its way in the mail. im not sure why it sounds weird or how to fix it. any help would be much appreciated. it shouldnt be my computer i have a 60gig hard drive and 512mb of ram.
