ok guys i need your help. i just got cubase and i wannna do midi sequencing with it. i have a vs 880ex and an xp60 and a dr660 for drums also. i want to sequence my xp60 stuff. im getting the stuff into the computer using a um2 midi interface. i am connecting tthe vs to the computer the same way and i also am making a digital connection with the vs and pc by using the dio2448 sound card. heres what i want to do

1. sequence midi files on cubase
2. play midi files back from xp-60 or cubase and record to the vs with vs as MASTER.
3.tweak everything on the vs
4.add live instruments and vocals.
5.mix down to two tracks on vs and send it back to cubase as AUDIO for more tweaking or send all of the unmixed tracks back to cubase and mix there.

im using cubase vst/24 with the pc at 450mhz 13 gig hard drive and 128 mb of ram. um 2 midi interface and dio sound card.

thanx guys

i figured it out thanx for not helping. you all SUCK!!!!!

Hey man,

If no one answers it's usually because they don't know. I sure didn't know the answer to your problem.

Lighten up.

oh dont take my reply serious bro. no need 2. i figured it out and it works fine no sync problems or nothin. but do take this serious. why are you in a cubase thread if you dont know about it? why are you considered a recording genuis if u dont know anything? can you explain? i would love to be the benefactor of your stupidity.

Fuck you then. I don't usually drop to this level of comunacashun. I think i've helped a few people concerning Cubase related problems, and as well, many people have helped me.

-------------

BTW, your answer to my post, which was to the effect of "you all suck"; How can anyone in this forum (whether they have a good understanding of Cubase or not) help you if your going to post things that undermine your position?

How can you take the medium for granted? If your going to ignore the actual logistics across that medium?

Lighten up.

"oh dont take my reply serious bro."

i never meant to offend or anything. i fixed it no problem. lighten up? i am i told you not to take me serious. oh take this serious. if you couldnt help me with cubase how can you help others? what i wanted to do with cubase is pretty basic. you might not have the gear i do but you could have shared your midi set up if you have one. what do you use cubase for? oh and i didnt take it personnal when you said "fuck you" :) your meaningless rhetoric at the end of your post proved without a shadow of a doubt proves that you like to use big words and elaborate on things you really dont and cant comprehend. instead of dragging this post on into who is a "smart guy" and who is an "smart ass" why dont you explain some of your cubase tips. im not one to carry on a war.

I promise not to take you seriously from now on.

Take care, and remember..... lite up.

do you mean "lite up" as in bud? or "light up" as in all my heavenly glory? oh and can you share anytips? what plug ins are you using?

thanx bro. im gonna hit the waves site. now i have another question. midi isnt audio its only info correct? is it possible to eq my midi tracks? im stumped maybe i should open the mixer window and try. by the way how can i get more audio tracks? when i start cubase i get 8 audio 16 midi. i know this isnt all i can get. im running vst/24.
thanx bro your a cool cat. im not so bad huh.

kotj

I'm not much of a MIDI person, but I think what you need to do is convert the midi file to WAV format. Then you can EQ and add DirectX or VST FX to it. Post in the MIDI Clinic, someone in there probably knows.

To get more tracks in Cubase - Go to Tools>System from the drop down menu's along the top. There is section there that shows how many tracks are currently selected, up the number to whatever you like, click apply.

Back in the arrange window, where it's showing you 8 audio and 16 midi. Change the little Icon beside track 9 to audio, so on and so forth.

thanx bro i have 1 more question. i have some wave files in another program.i have a wav file song that has 24 stereo wav samples. are you saying i can import that song which has 24 wav samples into cubase as audio and tweek the hell out of it? if so YOU RULE!!!!!!

kotj

Yes you can. Just click on the track in the arrange window, it will turn grey I think when the track has been selected. Then go to file>import. Find the wav file and import it, do this one by one for all 24 wav's.

I have found importing wav's into Cubase to be a little unpredictable though. After you import it, to say track 1 - It will have a little * on it. Indicating that it's stereo file, and should now be using both 1 and 2 faders/channels. For the next import, click on track 3 and it should end up using tracks 3 and 4 etc..

A problem you will most likely run into - The wav's probably won't be in perfect sync, so you will need to drag them around until it is. Turn of the "snapping" feature. I tried to do this when I switch over from Cakewalk to Cubase - It was a nightmare. Found it faster to rerecord the song from scratch. Give it a go though.

hey bro how in the hell do i turn it off? your my super-ultra-hyper-mega-turbo cubase vst/24 guide. what is the snap feature? i import midi and everything is synced. i bring in all my stuff looped for a certain amout of measures and then i get to choppin.my wav.file stuff is looped for a certain #of measures also.so i will have trouble importing 12wav files that are looped for 8 measures and makin a song out of em?hip me to the snapping feature feature brother.

kotj.

thanx brother

In the same window that you select tracks - the window where it lists audio tracks and midi tracks, the arrange window I think they call it. It'as along the top, little above track 1 - says something like "Snap to" and there is a drop down box, 1/4,1/8/16,OFF. It's not infront of me so I can't be more specific. If you click on the help button, it will probably show up in there - search for "snap".

Also, I'm only suggesting turning snap OFF if your having problems synching the tracks, the 1/16 or even 1/4 setting might even work.
