i really just wanted to bump that spam out fo the top slot

You'd love the new 3G's or Audiofires too....even better sounding than the Layla 24. That's why I heart my Layla 3G.

Hey Seis....

Hey Seis,

I just recently found your message concerning the OC 703 fiberglass. I've been out of the loop for a while and actually still have all 10 or 12 sheets if you're still interested.

Let me know.

I sleep with my layla24 under my pillow at night :D

Ya it sucks pulling it in and out of the rack every day, but I've grown so used to having it near and the wife don't seem to mind.

Sure do, though I've never used all 16 inputs at once. The closest I got was 13 (for the King Mixer CD I recorded) and they performed flawlessly together. They need to be connected by a BNC cable to keep them in sync.

You wouldn't happen to be running an older 24/96 and a newer 3G together are you?

Just wondering. Looking to expand too.

Ya, don't feel bad mines an older unit too.

You run at 24/96? word is some of the older units had a problem with hi frequencys. I called Echo and asked if they could give me a serial # break point but they said no. Told me I'd have to send it in just to find out. Until now I didn't have the computer to run 24/96. Now I am going to try it out.
Crossing my fingers I don't end up kicking my self in the ass for never sending mine in.

I too have a Layla24 and think it does a nice job (had a Aardvark b4). I've never heard about this High end loss. I record 24/96 when doing simple acoustic tunes and 24/48 when doing Electric and more tracks. & Just for the record... I also use a MAudio Octane when doing full band or 9+ tracks. It works well with the ADAT in.

What's up w/ the High End situation? Is it a Subtle thing that's hard to notice or does it make the tracks sound muffled?

Very curious. Thanks,
B.

I think it was like a conversion hickup that was pretty obvious, like a squeel type of thing. I don't remember for sure though. It was years ago I read it.

I also use a M-Audio Octane (for the drums) though I use the analog path. I haven't tried the ADAT option yet.

Word Clock

What do you guys think about the difference in the Word Clock of the Layla24 and Octane? I generally use the Laylas except when I track w/ the Octane... then when I have the Tracks I switch back to the Layla. I'm going to hook up cables this week from the Layla to the Octane so I can just use the Laylas WC. personally I don't hear much difference between the 2 but I'm just assuming the Layla24 would be better.

Thanks,
B.

i wrote echo awhile back, and they said that you CAN run a layla 24 and a 3g together.

I think the way you are planning to do it is the best way. Not that I'm an expert or anything. Just for good measure I would try to always use the same clock. So if I was using my Layla for playback I would use the layla clock as the input clock. Probly makes no difference but I find that the less I switch stuff around the less problems I have.

And of course the layla clock is better!!!!! :D :D :D You don't see no M-audio forum do you?

Actually, I like M-audio except for the drivers on my Axiom 49
