Here are some Presonus Tubepre Samples

My first set of samples is acoustic guitar. No Eq, just ADK A-51 mic into TubePre into Firebox into Logic. The first section has no tube drive, the second section had Tube drive at 12:00, Gain at 10:00. Third section has tube drive at 3:00, and gain at 9:00.

Anyone have any Brick samples...I'm thinking of trading it in (30 days at gC) for a brick for $200 more. Will I see a big difference?

Not bad. Sorry don't know anything first hand about the brick, so no other words of wisdom.

Thanks for taking the time to post those samples. The more samples there are available for various gear , the easier it is to make a good decision as to whether a product fits your needs.

Personally, I own the tubepre and it works well for me for project\demo level recordings. I usually use the gain at 12 o'clock and the drive at 12 o'clock and get basically no noise.

I'm really thinking of taking the Tubepre back and get a GT Brick. Everyone has told me that spend the extra money because the Brick is high enough caliber that I can upgrade all my other gear around the brick. The brick looks to be an investment in the future and the Tubepre was just a temporary fix.

I don't think anyone buys a tubepre with the intention of using it as a longterm solution..lol. For me it is just a stepping stone.

I am saving up for a Focusrite ISA 428. I mainly use the pres from my Soundtech 162T mixing board, and to me it doesn't make sense to go to a SP VTB-1 or M-Audio DMP-3 or something along those lines. The Brick is the other option I have been considering. Other than those two, I guess I would rather just keep saving. At least for me, I don't feel that my pres are my limiting factor at this point anyway - more of a lack of skill and experience on my part.

I like the sound of Focusrite. in fact, I think the sound of the Focusrite Pre's on the M-Box I use to own sound a bit better than the Presonus Firebox Pre's (at least for Bass DI). I'm really looking for a vintage tubey sound...and I think the Brick can provide that.
