I have just found an STC 4030 Ribbon Microphone

I was sent into a school that is closing down to salvage what equipment I can for our music department. I went on to the stage and there in the grid, suspended from one of the lighting bars was an old STC 4030 ribbon mic complete with yoke. I found a link about it

and I found a PDF manual for it. I have got to solder an XLR male onto it and I can try it through some of my equipment.

Cool, I serviced a few of those. They are similar to Altec/WE 639 "bird cages" and have two pickup elements--ribbon and dynamic omni, so by combining two of those you can get variety of pickup patterns.

Hopefully it works well.

Best, M

AND it has that super-cool old-style STC logo - better than the tacky logos they used when I worked for them in the '80s.

I've just had a listen through the headphones there are three settings on it left of centre is a warm quite lively sound, the centre position is quite bass heavy and the right notch seems quite toppy and thin. I'm looking forward to trying it out properly.
