If I do put something out, you guys will be mentioned in BIG BOLD print because I can think of no other "place" where the potential to learn and learn fast is so great.
Mike, I don't believe I left your name out this morning. Well I do believe it because I hadn't had my coffee, but I still feel like a dick.
Say it with me people....
GUERNICA!!!!
Seriously...sorry about that dude. I also neglected the RNC compressor out of my vocal chain if it makes you feel any better.

If and when I publish a cd, I'll be officially requesting your permission (and Steve's) to use your tracks. (Not sure if I'll use
Look Away, but
Rhythms and
Chrysalis would probably make it.
Paul- Ya, they're DFH. Sam (B. Sabbath) told me about another guy on the board that was using them so I found their website. A couple tunes I sent ya have older samples that I haven't got around to changing yet, because I've gotta retake some of the other sloppy chemically induced tracks on those songs as well.
Dude, I highly recommend you fork over the $85 plus shipping for this album, its worth it.
Yikes, I wouldn't even be able to afford my own cd!
What reverb are you using on some of this stuff. Several verbs sound real nice.
Cakewalk FXReverb mostly. No presets though. I almost always have to change each setting to get it "right" for the mix.
Are you using some room/ambience sound samples with the drums, ala DFH style?
Don't think so. The reason I say that is I can't remember if I kept the "room" tracks that I used on
Run For Your Life. I do intend to experiment with that some more.
One thing I would like, is that the dirtier guitars be more dirty and more raunchy.
Me too...Still working on broadening the guitar sound I have been using for a long time. Maybe another amp or two would be cool. Like a Boogie. Need money. And time. And money. And time.
Nice stereo spread on some stuff, too. Are you using much stereo micing or are you manipulating it?
That's a broad question, but I usually stereo mic the acoustic with a pair of condensors. I double, triple or quadruple electric rhythm guitar tracks with one mic, and some panning. That's pretty standard I think. I will sometimes stereo mic the amp on a lead to make it sound, as I think CrankyOne once put it "like it's coming from the back of my head." And if I was really WIDE vocal I'll just plop two condensors in front of my face and go.
But generally the way I treat the stereo field is as though there was a play going on and all the actors and props have taken their positions. I simply try to put everything where it can have its own room to breathe and express itself.
Great questions, Paul! Exactly the type of discussion I like having here.
Pedullist-
I don't have SLuiCE's album....
I don't either, but when I do you bet I'll trade ya!
Lt. Bob-
I'm sure we can work out a deal. I sereiously would love to be able to put out a cd with those parts that you did for me on "Chrysalis". Truly amazing IMO. I loved the ride on "Look Away" too. I relate to your phrases quite easily.
kgirl-
If that picture posted awhile back, in an outdoor setting, was really him
haha...if I remember, that was a shot of me fly-fishing in Montana. Beautiful places out there.
Thanks for the encouragement guys...seriously....
