For 3 years now I have slowly made my way from one cheap chinese condenser mic to another. All this time I have found that there has always been a brittlness to them that just built up throughout a recording and eventually made everything sound like ass.

I am now happy to report that all those troubles have gone away!! I just recently purchased a "SHURE SM7B".. This is THE best thing I have ever spent my money on! It has solved all my vocal problems..

Now my recordings no longer suffer from -- excessive simbilance, harsh high end, extreme plosives, grainy textures, or scooped or honkey midrange..

I wish someone would have told me about high end dynamic mics when I first got into recording... It would have saved me sooo much time and money..
 
Glad you have found something that works for you. What is your application for the SM7? Vocal mic?
 
I picked up an MD 421 over the weekend. So sweet. Makes me wanna get a 441.

Much easier to use than a condensor. My kids were watching tv downstairs and I had no bleed whatsoever on a vocal track. I can't do that with a condensor in this room.
 
Hey, ya know if your having problems with cheap condensers you could always try a high-end dynamic mic!

My ONLY complaint with the 441 is not much gain so using it in some situations where you'd like to try it over a condensor can be a bit of a problem.

Well, there is that thing they call a gain knob. You turn it up. :D

You know its wierd......... but I dont really think my 441 has that low an output. Its def not as hot as like an sm57 (not that I remember well since I havent used one since I got the 441 :D ) but mt RE20 has a MUCH lower output ..... causing me to use that one funny looking knob .... what is it again...... OH YEAH......

GAIN.

lol .... just kidding. Its not that funny looking.
