i have a question about recording

ok heres the thing,i'm planning on buying a trratec 8 in 8 out recording card for my computer and using a small 2 channel mixer to send 48 volts to the condensors for my drums but i'm going to plug the tom-snare-kickdrum mics directly into the card without pre-amplification,will they pick up or do i have to spend for a mixer to to amplify them??

i'm debating here
 
won't work. you really need a pre-amp to get the level up.

Judging from your current level of knowledge and expertise - are you sure that the card you have selected is the best for your situation?

That should work well for you. Now alls you need are some mics and preamps and you're off to the races.
