Hi guys!
I'm Jordan, I go by JordThePoet when I'm on stage.
I'm a spoken word poet.
I used to record for free in a studio with my ex girlfriend mixing the tracks, but obviously the ex part sort of signals why that deal is no longer a thing haha.
Anyway, I've always had my own little set up.
Line 6; UX1 interface and a Shure PG58.
Nothing Fancy but it got the job done!
My 58 has recently broken, god knows how, I hadn't used it for months and got it out of the case last month and it's not working. I thought it was the XLR until I purchased a new one and found out that wasn't the problem.
So, it's either my UX1 or my Shure. I'm going to try and the music department at my university to have a look at my mic just to be sure (pardon the pun).
Either the UX1 or the mic are at fault though and are both several years outside of their warranty so I'm going to need something new.
The only difference now is that I was before recording rap music, now it's literally poetry, spoken word, la la la.
So I was wondering is there a decent USB mic available?
Something that isn't too expensive, records well, hardly any noise or feedback, just a solid recording mic.
If it matters, I run off of a 2009 iMac.
If anyone could shed any light as to what the problems might be with my exist set up or what the best option for a USB mic would be that'll be great.
I hope you've all had a great week!
And I look forward to some of your answers
