HeavyD,

I hadn't heard that song before but, I checked it out from the link.

You are one hell of a great guitarist! I loved your style of playing and the singing was done quite well too. Nice backing vocals as well.

I kind of wanted to hear the drum's level up a bit and the bass guitar down a notch, and the mix would have been spot on.

Very nice tunage! I am impressed!;)

Whew! It was the good kind of 'played' and not the bad kind of 'played' (like tricked).

Congrats Hevy hope it was fun!

Congrats!! I couldn't listen today. I'll have to catch the archive this weekend.

I got the BLUES! Nice song!

As far as critique goes... It was a little bassy on my system.

Very Neal Young.

I agree with the "great guitarist" comments.

Who's doing the backup vocals? You?

Snare was a little weak. Overall, fun!

Hey Hevy, that mix is sounding much better now that you got those monitors! I think you could still lay off a little more on the "sizzle" of those cymbols. And I agree that the snare could use some more THWACK.

But some very noticable improvement. Nice going!

The back-up vocals...Dan's wife. The burnt rib story was heart-wrenching, but when Dan told me he lets his wife sing backing vocals so she'll be into the recording thing too, I had to play the song. Anything to make a recording junky's gear purchases easier to justify to the wife...

Speaking of burnt ribs, here come the flames...

Thanks Dave

for playing my song and I hope this thread doesn't get ugly..........................................PLEASE:rolleyes:

Way t' go, Dan Gu.....er......uh.....DAN!
Very cool, indeed. And I'm so jealous that your wife can sing back-up. My baby can't carry a tune in a bucket - (but I'm still keepin' her 'cause she lets me buy gear!)

It also motivated me to listen to that tune - I hadn't dl'd it yet. Very nice stuff! Cool beans to go with the ribs, brother!

Dan:

You're welcome. The reaction around the control room here was definitely Neil Young on the vocals, but some kind of crazed blues animal on guitar. Good stuff...

And I wasn't scared to try to pronounce your last name, it's just that, well...errr - um....Actually, I try not to say last names with city names for listener submissions. You know, that whole privacy thing. We will be linking to listener websites in the future if they want

As for the mix - We monitor through an Arrakis 12K1812 console on Fostex 6301BEAV monitors to approximate the sound of fairly good computer speakers, and your mix stands up quite well...

Very cool Dan!

I remember this tune...

I dig the guitars in this. Rich sounding.

The vocals floor me. :)

I'm listening on phones cuz it's late, but it was cool to hear this again. Cheers!

Man I'm hungry...

1st time hearing this!
Your chops are awe-inspiring!
Cym crashes could be chilled a tad, but this slammie of yours was extremely enjoyable!

Whoa

McG....You KNOW i'm a huge fan, I'm glad you liked it.
Dave....I'm flattered that the mix held up under scrutiny, Thanks Again.
SLuiCe....You da Man, thanks for checking in.
MISTERQCUE....Nice to finally meet you. I saw a lot of you lately in the Cave with all the JF2003 photos and all. Looks like a good time, maybe next year...........

"LET'S ME" Oh boy, where to start with this one! ROFL First, let me clarify something...On my own, I began posting at artistcollaboration.com and was asked by a few guys to do some harmonies for their songs. My hubby, Hevy, got jealous and BEGGED me to do BG's for 8 of his songs! :)

For the record: we bought a full PA system, bass and acoustic guitars, Shure Mic and a Marshall Amp all BEFORE I started singing! If anything, he hates having to share the stuff we have now and is a gear hog! he he
