So far it sounds great. Of course now I'm forced to start climbing this learning curve. The software router is a little bit over whealming, which is surprising. Maybe I'm just not "getting" it yet.

Funny, it seems like the more gear you get, the more you need. For example, I got the 1010 and realized I need to buy some decent 8 TRS-to-TRS snakes to optimize this set up. I'm also thinking I'd like an 8 Bus console and I need to buy a patch bay or three. Did I mention the studio rack to hide all the nasty cables and shit?

It just doesn't end, does it?

hey,

CONGRATULATIONS. you will be very happy with the delta 1010. What questions do you have? I'll see if I can answer some for you.

Do you still have the tape machine? What do you want for it. Sound module? Keyboard? mic? box of foam? money? etc. I'm just trying blindly :D

Delta 1010 is a NICE piece of gear. Its D/A is its downfall, but A/D is superb. Try to clip the thing, it wont. Its really really nice. Check back to cyanjag's tests with the lucid converters and see why i don't think those lucids are worth it for anyone in our league.

One thing i noticed with the delta? The mix has HEADROOM. You better get yourself a hold of a drummer.

Thanks! I don't have any specific questions right now, I'm just trying to get my "sea legs" so to speak. It takes a little getting used to going from a Soundblaster to this bastard. I'll let you know if I need any help.

Yeah, I still have the 16 track too! It's the best of both worlds for me!

Good luck with your 1010. I'm probably getting mine this week. I want to record 7-8 drum tracks simultaneously into my PC (1Ghz Intel, 256ram, ATA-100 7200rpm 40gigHD) with Sonar. Am I smoking crack or do I have a shot with this setup?

Thanks Chuck.

Yeah, you should be fine I think. I bought it to do the same thing, and although I haven't actually done it yet, I don't anticipate any problems.

Now is a good time to buy one since they're offering a $100 mail in rebate.

Let us know what you think.

Wait...
Bayview has them for like $490 shipped, and m-audio is offering a $100 rebate?
You gotta be kidding me. Where is this rebate posted at?
thank you thank you....
Thats a Delta 1010 AND a lucid clock for $600, hehe... allright...

Well, I got mine at Musiciansfriend.com, and I saw the rebate on 8th Street or Zzounds as well, but I can't say everyone is offering the rebate. Its an M-Audio rebate, so you might be able to get it.

I saw that price at Bayview, and that's shipped. If 8th St will match it I'll go with them. I ordered a pair of mics from them that GC sold out on and they came in two days. That's good business.

Well, looks like even with $100 rebate at musiciansenemy, its STILL more expensive than at Bayview. I didnt see the $100 rebate at zzounds, which would make it $460...
bayview doesnt have the rebate as far as I can tell, and they are $490, shipped...
ANyone have any trouble with monitoring latency on this? Its say it has zero latency monitoring, I juts wanna know if its true or not.

I am thinking about returning my Aardvark Q10 before it is too late. If I can get the delta for $390(mayyyybee?) I could get a nice joemeek preamp also!!! Would this be a better setup than the Q10? I like the Q10 but the drivers suck and are driving me nuts.

Its say it has zero latency monitoring, I juts wanna know if its true or not.

tubedude,

That just means there's a stereo line out or headphone out that has a copy of what's coming into the inputs, so you can monitor what you're playing before it hits the computer, hence no chance for soundcard latency to affect it

I know that, but actually, it uses the software mixer to assign which outputs you want to monitor inputs with. Which means there is processing, therefore latency. I was just wondering if its noticable at all.

I think the software mixer just flips a switch in the breakout box so the monitored outs are in real time before the signal even hits the A/D chip.

for monitoring purposes, there is no latency in the delta 1010.

CMillar, if I may ask what OS are using with it? And what is your tracking software?

I'm on Win98, and I'm currently making the switch from Cubase to Nuendo (yeah, big switch). So far everything is fantastic! Although I'm still dicking with setting buffers.
