I just bought a miktek cv4 and a motu hybrid yesterday but I'm find my recordings way to sharp and not silky. I do have a pretty raspy voice like dmx and I am rapping. I just cannot get the mix on each track to sit well with the instrumental, I was hoping by buying a good mic and a decent interface would make my vocals come out clear with a softness to it.
I use to have a tascam 122 mkii and an at4040 and it was awesome for KY voice. It did not pick up my air of my vocals when I would spit in the mic , I would like to know if its the cv4 or the motu that could he the problem with being so harsh for my sound. I did have an mbox 3 with my at4040 at one point and it was awesome my recordings after mixing sounded very clear but VERY soft where my doubles blended really good...
do you think the cv4 just is not a good match for my voice? Please if anyone could help me cause.I can still take the mic back to get an audio technica

Could very well be that the microphone is NOT the one for you.
Have you at least tried to back off the microphone a bit or rise the microphone a bit higher than nose level?

The CV4 is one of the best mikes I have ever heard. It can sound nasally on SOME vocalists, though.

It just may be that your voice doesn't agree with it.

That being said, it's a tube mike so it should be left on for at least a half hour before you use it in order for it to rise to the proper operation temp/voltage.

Once again, great, great mike. I wish I owned one.

Cheers :)
