Here's the guitarist and vocalist in my son's band.

He's nineteen and pretty good... take a listen and feedback on the mix is surely welcome. We took about 1-1/2 hours to track this yesterday.

Nice tune. Good voice. Can't say much else.....wish I had talent like this even at my age. :D Good job.

Sounds like there's a bunch of pops/clicks in there. You might want to try a noise/popclick remover. I like the acoustic sound you have. The voice sounds good, it mixes well with the guitar.
For whatever it's worth you can tell him "You sing much better than Snakedog" ;)

Good song, good performance ;)

Thanks Dogman...

SnakeDog5050... I'm not sure what you're referring too other than the pick noise. Which is somewhat intentional. Can you pinpoint a specific? ... and I'll let Tyler know... :)

Thanks,

Oops, I retract my original comment. I'm noticing for some reason this morning every song on these headphones has a lot of pops/clicks. Headphones must have gone bad

Well, get some new ones dude!!!!! :D

It sounds like an aspiring "Dashboard Confessional." The singer has potential, he just needs to learn how to sing from the diaphragm. This will increase his power and should help him control his pitch when he holds a note for a while.

Nice guitar and awesome sound. Personally, I think this song is out of his vocal range. I don't know if it would affect the guitar part too much, but I would do this a semi-tone or a tone lower. But you got an awesome vocal sound and overall mix,

hey pdadda and RAMI thanks for comments...

their stuff is a lot heavier so this is a change of venue. I particularly like his style... kind of like Robert Smith (The Cure)

Thanks again

That's funny. My wife heard me playing the track, and she said the vocals sounded kinda like the Cure. It's a cool sound.

Yeah...Don't get me wrong, I like his style too, and he can sing well...It just seems like the high parts are slightly out of his comfort zone. I might be wrong, because that might be what he's going for, though. And I also know it's a lot harder to get up there when you're just singing to an acoustic guitar as opposed to belting it out with a whole band behind you. I certainly wouldn't attempt what he's doing, so kudos to him.

Sounds good. Although the vox dont seem to fit with the guitar.
Not sure what to do. Maybe add some reverb to the vox and cut some los from the vox also.
Guitar and vox sound really good seperetly but dont seem to sit together perfectly.
Maybe try compressing the guitar.
Although im just guessing.

Perhaps tell him to OPEN his mouth while singing.
Hes sorta mumbling in the begining.
It does imporove later in the verse though.

Acoustic guitar has a tad too much presence IMO, and lacks a pinch of warmth, which in this case would complement his voice better i think.

A harmony part would be nice in the background of the upswing part at the end.

Nice. Im liking this. Good song too.
The vocals could still do with some tweaking IMO although stills sounds good. Maybe calm the lo mids try adding some presence around 12K.

Sounds good to me Sonix.
Although there are times where some guitar notes pop out a bit much.
Try compressing with a high threshold so you compress only the bits that pop out. use a highish ratio around maybe 5. Just watch it doesnt sound unnatural.
Apart from that real good.
You could add some layers to the track. Like a double on the vox at the chorusy parts so you can slip it under the original vox and also add some harmonies, but not that much as you dont want to spoil the nice feel of the song.

imo, I like it the way it is. bob dylan was much worse at singing than this kid, but then again... he had spectacular tunes.
