This is the 5th installment of my Cyber-Twin demo mp3's. This one is a metal jam and features my new Fender jazz bass too. Everything was recorded direct and mixed with Cool Edit Pro. I'd like to get your opinions on the mix and I think I'm finally starting to get better at making the tracks fit better in the mix.

Metal Mix 1

sounds good. good mix. (I wish i had more than one headphone on this damn headset .. i'm at work) From what I can hear comming out of the left side, the contrast between bass and guitar is good.

from a metal guitar standpoint . i can suggest that perhaps you could hit the strings a little harder to get punchy palm mute attacks at the 1:14 mark and beyond.

nice tune.

i can see it with big ol raunchy vocals and a nice solo interlude .. unless that's what's coming out of the right speaker .. :-( i wouldn't know.
great job.

bluesman...playin' metal??:D

sounds kinda fuzzy...
at 0:34...and again at 0:40. and later (you do it four times)..the gtr and bass seem to be hitting clashing notes..or it's out of tune...like an intonation problem on one of the instruments...especially noticeable the first time you do it..as you're right together up till then.
sounds like a good start, however, and a little "production" will help to add some dynamics to the song...
singing?? ...solos??
cooledit does rock though...eh?

I won't repeat what is said above, but I agree with all of it.

I *will* repeat that some punchy playing will go a long way towards making this mix move more. You might want to back off the reverb, too: at 1:33 where you are doing some nice breaks the verbs washes loudly over what could have been nicely quiet.

Is it just me, or is that cymbal awfully loud, too. The drums don't sound horrible, but that cymbal catches my attention every time.

Good work, for what it is so far.

Chris
