I finally figured out how to get my stuff on a fast hosting site. I have two songs for ya guys. The first one, A Year Ago Today is a groovin hard rock thing, and the second one, Time, is more of a slow classic rock thing. Kinda like UFO. I think they are pretty damn good, but I'm open for criticism.;) Let me know what ya think.

Overall, very well recorded IMO. Just a couple nitpicks - the snare on the a year ago is too bright and a little to loud for my taste (at least in the intro). Other than that, I dig the drums on both tracks - very different approaches but they both fit the respective songs. You've got a very organic sound on Time with the lightning rods (or whatever sticks those were). The backing vocals seem a little out of tune at parts on Tme. Also, the level of the guitar solo on Time is too high. The doubling sounds really good though. I'd like to hear the two solos play off each other a little more too. Nice job.

First of all, thanks for the reply gnarled.:) I agree with you on the snare in year ago today, but it sounds different on different systems. Sometimes it will sound to bright, way to much high end, not enough attack, whatever. Then again on another stereo it will sound good. Go figure. It's cool that you dig the drums. I'm the drummer! :D I try to fit what's ever best for the song, or whatever it calls for. On Time, I was using brushes. We only used 3 mics for that song. Kick, Snare, and Overhead.

Hopefully I will get some more reviews, but I'll be happy that someone replied. I do do my own stuff, being a one man band. The songs I posted here are of my band, Nation Earth, consisting just of me and my guitarist. We are in need of a bass player, so if anyone knows one in the chicagoland area, feel free to email me. I'm 21 and my guitarist is 23, so that's are age area. If people like this stuff, I will keep posting em. I think it's cool to give and get opinions on our music. I just recently found out about this section!! doh.... Anyway... I'm done now.. :D

Soundprizm,

Hey bud. Just a helpful hint. If you want to post a URL (Like you did) and don't want it to be a link, just de-select the "Automatically parse URLS" box on the bottom of the post page when you create the link. Hope that helps.

Ok I listened to A Year Ago Today it and its good songwriting. Also, GREAT vocals. I liked them very much. Here are my problems:

-Bass drum sounds not so good, each hit sounds like a "thud"
I lose the bass drum in the mix sometimes. I would like to hear more overheads too. Not on cymbal crashes but more hi-hat and ride. Toms sound great. Maybe re-EQ the snare and it will sound better.

-Guitars sound very compressed and therefore lack the fullness and warmth that I like to hear. Maybe guitars just need to be louder in the mix. I love the tone though; very chunky.

Overall nice job though. Once again very nice job on vocals.

Hmmmm... Whattya mean, you can't hear the kick drum? Or it's to predominant? I think I am gonna go and re-eq the snare, but like I said it sounds different on different systems. I'm listening to it right now and it sounds fine to me, although this are not good reference monitors. They're some cheap ass yamaha bookshelf speakers.:D Thanks for the compliments though.;)

What do ya think guys, do we got a shot at a record deal or what?
