I have my own mp3 encoder but I've heard of a "free" encoder that's out there.
I did a search for "lame encoder" but the links all seemed a bit to "techie".
I'm asking for a friends kid who'd like to post some music on a school website.He lives too far away to make a trip to my house practical for encoding on my rig.

If such a thing exists and someone has a link I'd really appreciate it.

As always I'm not interested in any cracked/pirated/warze just legitimate freeware.

Try Audiograbber....I think that's what you're looking for. I got mine from a link within the Homerec.com pages somewhere. It was freeware.

Audiograbber's a little confusing to set up with the Lame encoder, in my opinion.

This one rules, you just right click on a file, and the option to encode to MP3 is right there. Kicks ass.

Man!That does kick ass!I've d-loaded a firewall and a file encoder tonight....it's like fishing man....they're bitin' tonight.
 
yeah, I actually use that a ton, like when I convert wav files to mp3's, and I don't rename them, and I can't see the freaking extentions, and I try to upload a damned wav file to NWR...LOL.

Likin' the mouseover data.

I installed that firewall, and it cleared up a BUNCH 'o crap for me.
I need to go thank Jake for that
 
Which firewall you guys talking about? ZoneAlarm? I've had ZoneAlarm running for about a year... haven't had a computer virus in the year since I've had it.

And Participant is the one who told me about dbpoweramp, but he probably doesn't even use it and just got me to download it so that all of my recordings would sound boring. That's the encoding, ya' know. In 16bit, wow...exciting stuff from me.

Chris, CDex has worked VERY well for me. it's versatility has helped me through alot of mp3's. so many options. it rips CD's of course too.. basically like most of the other similar software.. Very fast also.

Totally saved my webputer, we were reformatting every couple of months.

Happy to help, my girlfriend gets the links from computer forums.:D
