Nothing personal there, Doc :D No herbs for this piece? Wow... now that's impressive  ;)

Hey there "Doc":

I haven't had the pleasure of "meeting" you prior to this thread, but while it's at the top of the page, I feel I should mention that I thought your previous post (responding to the cat'isms) was cool and showed you to have a great attitude. My music bores people to sleep...while yours is destined to keep this thread alive for years to come...

Keep the Chin Up, and the discordant muse alive...

I'm sorry. Maybe my comments didn't seem constructive... but imhop there wasn't much else I could say, other than the comment about structure. Wasn't meant as a personal attack... :( Let's buy Doc a present :)

I'll be the first to proclaim that my music is not going to be understood or appreciated by the majority of the population.

That doesn't bum me out. It doesn't give me a thrill either as in trying to piss off as many people as I can. I just accept that most will not understand where I'm coming from. Oh well.

I'm grateful to all that download it and at least give it a shot. And I am also grateful to those that have the honesty to step up and tell me that they think I gift-wrapped dogshit.

My dad always told me honesty is the best policy!

Thanks again.

cool ...im glad....what purpose does it serve for me to fill up this thread with lies??....hey when you hear my crap and it sucks...say so....do so after at least listening...but feel free...and really it just became an excercise in trying to find a humorous way to say that i didnt get it.nothin more and certainly nothin personal...but i can see that you understood that fully..so i think we will get along just fine;)

thanks
jamal....(some of the best gifts ...really are dog poo...):D

Hey Chad - I didn't even see your post when I wrote that. While I meant what I said about "doc" having a good attitude, I was actually trying to piss of Jamal because he was asking for insults in the Cave. It was a subtle joke, but you weren't the target.

Can we still buy Doc a present? :( And no, Jamal, we're not wrapping THAT up ;)

this is kinda a fine line here. .. and don't misunderstand me please...if possible. But I think there is a certain "context" in saying that many people "will not understand where I'm coming from. Oh well..." Some people might take [a little] pride in that statement, feeling that it takes a "certain" kind of intelligence to understand 'my' music...OR...some [read..the many public consuming] people are just stupid about electronic music in general...aka MIDI, etc. Especially free form type music. So a person might need to more finely define exactly what they mean with statements like that.

As a joke, I put up two 'abstract' pieces...complete with Jack Russell barking, non repetitive motifs...all that schtuff.... And even just plain gtr. feedback. Not sure if you caught those posts. But it kinda backfired, and I got some supprising (or just friendly) responses. I found that very interesting in this clinic.

Anyway Doc, you are bound to find some avid enthusiasts and equally will find the naysayers. I predict luke warm responses will be the few. Ironically, (or not so) Christian music evokes almost the exact responses. Middle of the road....nay...think not.

Now...Morton Sabotnik... (sp?) Remember his stuff?

>feeling that it takes a "certain" kind of intelligence to understand 'my' music...

but I DON'T feel that just because someone does not like my music they are stupid shits.

I told people when I first listened to ELP's Tarkus that it sucked.

I was SO WRONG I can't to this day believe that I said that.

Can't say that I know of Morton's work.

I believed I spelled his name right. I've got some LP's around here of his. He basically was one of the early synth guys doing all the 'blips' and 'beeps' and all the cool filtered stuff. Very abstract stuff, and really pretty cool. I believe he preceeded Wendy Carlos, and her stuff. Also just before Tomita and his stuff becoming popular. I think if you ever found any of his stuff, you'd like it VERY much, as I believe it is as "valid" now as is was then....kinda like a Stravinski, I suppose.
