beginning really reminded me of Big Black with Who powerchords then off we go...spooky keyboard is excellent, just a few bpm away from being the Cramps. All relentlessly good...vocals are at a perfect level mixwise imo

man I know you never will, but Id love to hear you do a "serious" song...Im not sure why its just that you seem to be approaching your penultimate level performance and mix wise and I wonder where you could take it from there

Thanks dude. Sorry, but the vocals are done. :D

Right, yeah I've been shooting for bigger sounds overall lately. Bigger everything. My other stuff was tight and crisp and clean. I wanted it that way. It was the style I was aiming for. Those songs will all be on an album with fresh mixes that should be ready by the spring/summer. I still like that sound and will probably go back to it one day. The rough mixes sound great everywhere I've tested them. Real punchy and clean. This newer stuff is "fatter" sounding I guess. The drums are tuned differently, I'm using a different snare, and a different overhead setup. More real amps. More double-tracking. More everything.

Well I suppose you can allow yourself more of everything :D , I started out that way myself but it came out way to populated:D
So those guitars went through were guitar-amps, I was gonna ask because they sounded a tad more lively than your usual guitar sound wich kinda more direct and focused.

Awesome....simply awesome!
Greg, your voice is improving a helluva lot lately, it sounds great here. The harmonies sound beautiful. That bass intro is a killer. I love the way the song developes, it's a great adrenaline ride. I can safely say this is gonna be my favourite of your tunes up to now. Love it, total class tune!:)

I loved it. The guitars sound awesome to me, thick and compressed and still chewy. The vocal harmonies are great too...I can hear why several people have said they might like the vocals a touch louder, but it didn't bother me enough to worry about it. It's a great song too, without taking itself too seriously. Really good stuff!

Best Regards,

Dave

Thanks kc. That's cool. I don't know what you mean by "serious" song though. All of my songs are seriously not serious, seriously. :D

Yup, all real shit.

Thanks a lot Joey. I figure with these deep, thought provoking lyrics, I better get my shit together with the vocal performance. :D

You and KC will be getting something in your email in a couple days. ;)

Hell yeah...no nits...rock the way it's supposed to be...crank it!

Hypnotic. I almost fell asleep. But it is past my bed time. :)

Kind of cartoon-like feel to it. When the toms hit me I felt like I was in a bag of hammers.

Cymbals sound good.

Lol. Cartoon-like, and a bag of hammers. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I'm liking the comparison either way. :)

Ha ... I can so see this as background music to the next Scooby Doo movie. Scene: They're searching the haunted mansion.

Sonically, as per usual, not a nit to be found. I'm in the "leave the vocals alone" camp w/ Ray. The guitars and drums bring the energy to the mix, and the vocals are meant to deliver the message w/o providing too much distraction. The "Ghost and Mr. Chicken" theatrical organ provides exactly the right ambience for the lyric.

Well done, G.

I think I'm in the bring the vocals up a tad camp.

The "theremin" definitely sounds more like an organ than a theremin. Sounds good though. (How much would it cost to build one? $10 worth of wire and a power supply?)

Overall, it was good as per usual. I like the feedback on the guitars. It's interesting to hear you go in a different sonic direction.

When is your acoustic pop-country album coming out? :D

Lol. Um, I gotta finish my zydeco rap album first. :D

Thanks for checking it out. Yeah I say "theramin" but it doesn't sound like that anymore. The first run through was more theramin-like, then I added a couple organ layers on top. I have no interest in building one. I think I've wanted that sound maybe 3 times in my life.

Without checking the specifics, it's seeming that everyone is about 50/50 on the vocal level so far. I'm leaning towards just leaving it as-is. :o
