i have kind of an old set up. i run a line 6 toneport to my laptop which has sonar 6. when i'm attempting to lay a track and want to add some reverb on my vocal for example, all i hear coming through the headphones is my dry vocal signal. during playback the reverb is there but i would like to hear it in my headphones while i'm recording. any suggestions?

Which Toneport: GX, UX1, UX2, UX8?

Anyway, probably the low latency monitoring bypasses the trip to and from the computer and DAW (where you are adding the reverb). It's pretty normal with small interfaces with low latency monitoring not to be able to hear effects during tracking. That's the tradeoff for keeping the latency low. You might be able to set up monitoring through the DAW to be able to hear the reverb during tracking, but the latency may be intolerable.

it's the ux1. that makes sense but it seems like i used to be able to hear the effects and one day, poof, gone. i got away from recording for a while and it seems like maybe i've forgot a few things along the way

From my experience, there's usually something very simple that you've forgotten about in cases like these.
So where is the 'bypass all effects' button? I'd try looking for a low-latency mode somewhere to switch off, but as bouldersoundguy says, the latency may be more irritating than missing the reverb.

Didn't the older UX1 come with GearBox software or something that adds effects while tracking?
