well he did say to me:

Cammon man why are you chnging my words.I set labels and post production for DVD and HD.

it looks like the job that he does which "couldn't be filled by an american" was putting labels onto DVDs. or am i not understanding that sentence that well? damn...i'm a stupid american.

If you were a pro You'd know that since 2003 nobody will accept anything under 96kHz in the business!!!
What a load of fuckin' bullshit....... are you just trolling out of boredom, or just incredibly dense?

I cast my vote: incredibly dense

The part that amazes me is that he actually seems to believe the crap that's spewing across his keyboard, and he won't give up the ghost. I guess if you are wrong, go down fighting proving your insanity along with your stupidity.
More power to you buddy and your 96k world...

I've read the paper. On teory he is correct.
BUT IT IS A FACT THAT HIGHER CONVERTERS HAVE BETTER SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO then lower ones.

OK now you've confused me. Your stated difference in SNR between 48kHz and 192kHz is -2dB? Or is it 0dB? Anyway, a 4x increase in computing power doesn't seem worth it.

No english is not my first language and like I stated earlier already somebody will attck the fact that I do not speak english.
I do live in the states on working visa as a sound engineer.
I am sure you dont know that in order to hire a forigner in USA you have to make the immigration believe that your job can not be filled by an american.

Yes, I am familiar with visa requirements, and I have nothing against immigrants. I don't care about language skills.

sorry if this has been posted before - but reading this thread got me thinking. I belive i currently record at 44.1khz at the moment. I'm using an maudio 24/96 sound card, PC is a P4 3.2 ghz running XP with 1024 meg of RAM. I think the maudio card alledges it can record 96khz and seems to have a number of higher options available in the delta control panel.

My question is with my current set up is 24bit 96khz possible and also what are the benefits or implications.

Kind Regards

Benefit: clearer sonically.
implication: it will eat your pc's RAM for breakfast, and you will not be able to record as many tracks, and some plugins will be unusable.

But that depends on the pc. A dedicated DAW with 2GB of RAM may be able to pull it off. But I can't be certain.

I always like people who have no statement at all. Not to mention a point
I was trying to make a point the whole time.Had facts that supported it.
I never tried to attack anybody.
You have nothing else to say then Upgrading from 44khz to 96 khz is a standard procedure and I am a dickhead.
Do you have something else useful to say so I can write it down???

Actually upsampling is a standard procedure before using higher-end digital processing tools, especially in the mastering stage, and I'm beginning to think that you are, indeed, a dickhead.

thanks rocket - My next project is to build a dedicated DAW - currently thinking about Dual zeons and somewhere around 4 gig of ram - maybe that would be a more suitable system and I can think about stepping then.

So, which music labels won't accept anything lower than 96k. I really want to know so I don't screw up and send them something they won't accept.

BTW, if you don't take outside mixing gigs, how would you know what anyone else is doing. I do a crapload of TV and radio commercials, (admittedly all of them are local) and none of them are HD. I turn them in at 48k, then I get paid.

And Buy the way boingoman
The word engineer doesn't mean that you can click the record button with a mouse and understand the interface of your software.
Please make your self a favore and read something about Analog to Digital Convertion.Dithering.

Perhaps dickhead was too strong a word. But I, who understand only the most basic concepts of digital audio, could pick out the inconsistencies of your posts.

Even I know who Dan Lavry is. :)

And I don't need any knowledge of audio at all to sniff your attitude a mile away.

4GB would definitely do it!

Just make sure that it is a dedicated DAW, and you do nothing else to it. I would recommend XP Home, and I'll try to find that website that shows you how to maximize it for recording audio and post it for you. XP Pro has too many things running in the background (Office comes with Pro, and it's 130MB by itself and has a ton of background apps). And make sure you have 2 harddrives, one just for your audio files. Some recommend that you install the OS on both harddrives, so that they are running independent of each other, but an IT friend of mine says that it doesn't make much difference, so YMMV, take it FWIW, etc, etc...
Good luck with it, whichever way you go!

I do not know 'Smutz' about recording...nor do I claim to..BUT..or BUTT..(just in case you need both spellings  ) if I did know, I would be much more humble about my knowledge..WHICH by the way...I will someday aquire...By LISTENING to other 'musically' gifted bros and sis EXPERIENCES with DIFFERENT methods, products,etc..and trying these things out for myself and not BE a 'Smutz' by coming into a forum just for the sake of being a...what was that term used....A-B-C-D... :D ,oh thats it ! Nor would I come into another country 'presuming' that you took the job from a citizen, because they are too stupid to do it...And I do resent you insulting Americans when you are benefiting from them.Apparently your own country is a crap-hole or you would not be here..By the way , you can leave this country if YOU DON'T LIKE IT OR THE PEOPLE..OR OUR FORUMS...GEEEEEEZE..JUST THE FACT YOU HAVE BEEN PUT IN YOUR PLACE IN OTHER FORUMS OUGHT TO TELL YOU SOMETHING...waaah...waaah..I have already raised 4 kids and I prefer thier whining to yours anyday..hey they even make more sense..... Could it just be you were hired by a low-budget Recording Studio because perhaps you 'Don't' have a green card and your pay is really low..or perhaps you do not even work for one..Mabey you have done a lot of research and are pushing off someone elses opinion as your own. Who knows, mabey you were mistreated as a child , and it makes you feel good ATTEMPTING to step on others know-how......
I do know this..ANYONE who has to RING his own bell by being an 'insolent inrode' (rude,haughty-hostile entrance of an enemy into a country) :D needs to do like he said mmmmmmm..some what...15 post or so back..and LEAVE...
And for any remarks as to my implications of not being a 'green-card'..YOU are the jerk with your solecism whom started it..BY your derogatory remark of how you landed your job..or so you say... Anyway this is my 'stupid American' ten cents worth..."Hit the road RADO and don't ya come back no more"..By the way I sang that on my pocket-recorders built-in mic...hahahahahahahaha
DID I SPELL THAT RIGHT??? And yeah by the way ..yoo kan't spel werth aa krap... You deserve a CD of eurt playing the geetar..... :p

Now my belly hurts! ;)

Hey guys...you remember when that guy posted about how everything needs to be recorded at 96kHz because it's the industry standard...and then, everybody flamed him and said what a total fucktard he was because he didn't know shit about recording...and he didn't know who Lavry was...and he couldn't spell, and stuff?...you remember that?...that was awesome, man!!! :p

Well, from what I've seen so far, it probably wasn't hard to convince them that you're the only one that can do the 'job' you do...

Nice thread Nostradumbass...
