songs "I Am Going To Hollywood"

Thanks
Dave

Just got 2 overhead mics and was really trying to get decent drums how do you think they came out? My playing isnt that good since I am self taught and it is not my main instrument but what do you guys think?

I think it needs a stronger drum beat and some rhythm guitar.

If you are gonna just mix what you have The vocals need to come out more. Bass is out to much. Shorten up the ending.

I'll give it a few more listens.

I would just stack everything up in the middle and hard pan the OH's.......

...or not. :)

Dd you mic the kick and the snare?

I have 2 overheads and a kick and snare track sorry forgot to say that. The guitars are panned a ltitle bit becuase I used a dynamic close and a condensor mid range and did some little panning moves some left and right like half and stuff. Should I try everything middle? Lose the condensor mic tracks? for the guitarS?

Sorry, my humor doesn't come across well on the internets. :D

Everything is already stacked up in the middle. I take it you played the guitar once, recorded with two mics, then panned those tracks somewhat right and somewhat left? Whatever you did, they are sitting nearly dead in the middle.

I would lose a bit of bass, bring up the the vox, tame the OH's back a bit, bring the snare up a tiny bit, and bring the kick up a fair amount.

As far as the guitars, we need to know what kind of tracks you have, and how they are panned.

vocals are buried and everything is in the center, let it rest for a few days and re-mix with fresh ears.

ive been working hard on this track I Guess im dazed and confused. imma put up my remix in like 5 min ill see what I can do check back in a little bit.

much, much better.

now cut some mud out of the kick and put some crack into the snare.......

I have OK monitors, a pretty good room, and my ears have gotten way better. However, that should of been pretty obvious under any circumstance. :)

The mix could still use a lot of work, but it may be good enough for what you are doing.

May I ask what you are working on? I mean DAW, standalone, console, etc......

Sounds a bit cluttered at times, vox especially sound buried in chorus. Good songwriting here, definitely has potential with a little mix tweaking. Definitely some more vocal presence. Maybe a little adjustment on the guitar sound. I like this though, keep messing around with it, good song here, cool

The guitars seems to crowd things & brawl with the vocals. You'll need to do some EQ carving to give space but I's suggest you drop the guitars at leats 3dB on the louder side & 2 on the other.
Other than that the song seems to move along nicely - though the bass gets boomy at 1.37 I'd suggest cutting the bottom end a bit & giving it some definition around 3khz.

Sounds much better than the first mix..
Still something about the bass is not working for me.

Nice progress.

NL5 is going to try and mix it! I cant wait to see what he can do with it!

Hey I just remixed it myself. What was cutoff?! I just mixed it using the same files and it seemed fine.

Anyway yours is really good. Changed the drum sound sooo much! Is that all eq? Put in delay and did some nice blending sounds good though. Tell me if mine got any better I mixed it in another program.

Sorry if I wasnt supposed to use this account but I figured you offer free mp3 hosting anyway its just whenever I tried lightning mp3 I never got any emails.

Ooops, I guess it's not cut off - it just starts somewhat abruptly - thought it was cut off.

Drum sound is not all eq, it's a mix of quite a few different things. Your biggest issue is the drum tracks are not phase coherent. The snare track's polarity is reveresed from the OH's. And the OH's are outta phase time-wise. I'd fix that issue first, it will really clear up the drum tracks.
