A funk track, a mix that I threw together to hear the bits in place.....a quicky in otherwords ANYWAY................

the title was inspired by Snakedog landing me with the Llama attack on www.myspace.com/sutherlandandson I instantly had a title. Now it's a track that will ultimately end up on my next solo album but it's gonna take a while as I'm busy & I want to try & use different drummers & musicians full stop to give a bit more natural human variety.

So I contacted RAMI......he's a good chap. I said "blah de blah de blah" & he said "yes" quite simple really. I zipped the track over to hime from scotland & he drummed it on his fine sounding tubs & zipped it back to me & I've just had a chance to throw this together

enjoy people. I'm over the freakin' moon THANKS Senor Ram Man.......

PS. anybody fancy tryin' keys??????? hammond in particular but anything goes "suck it & see" as someone once said to me

I have an instrumental album up on www.sutherlandandson01.bebo.com if anybosy's interested

I'm listening to this as I type.

To say, "Outstanding" would be an understatement!

Outstanding! :)

Hey Slide.....Man, I never heard my drums sound so "BIG"! This was agreat great une to play to. I wish now I could have let loose a little more, but I played to the mix without a click, so I was just trying to stay on top of it.

Thanx alot for asking me to do this, it was a different style for me and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I might have neglected to tell you how awesome I find the guitar and bass-playing in this tune during our correspondence...It's top-notch playing, man, and I dig this tune alot even with the loops you originally had.

BIG is my middle name

it's what comes of being small in stature

It's so damn funky

Sounds like a live setting. Reverb sounds good, very spacey and open mix, you can hear everything clearly. Not sure how you did it.

I like the song too.

Its so bloody Funktastic guys!!! Its got a 70's Jazz rock fusion sound that I just can't name right now but it sure is kicking ass!! For some reason it sort of reminds me of Be Bop Deluxe with a fair amount of Jeff Becks Wired album...

Thanks Tony!

I recognized the tone and style, but I couldn't put my finger on the name.

Sister Seagull!!!!!!!!!

DAMN rumbled

Jeff has been one of my biggest influences & I just love the playing & production carried out by Bill Nelson et al in BBD

I used a midiverb I on a short setting & roland RS550 on a slightly longer setting over the drums/loops & I used Dverb on the lead. The delay is supplied courtesy of a revox B77 at 7.5ips

I try to go for the "live" sound & reading danny's post I've got it, thanks people

No takers for keyboards?????

Great job, man. It's a fun tune.

One technical note...At about two minutes in, I'm hearing a lot of background hiss come and go.

Other than that, I just plain like it. Make more like that.

RD

Thats Awesome! Sounds great and is really fun. Brilliant drumming as well. :) Great guitar sounds and the depth is quite astonishing.

depth.......

great word....

FTR the guitar is the first recordings of a refretted & rewired 1960 345 that belongs to myself. Handed down from my father. Both the rhythm & lead part was recorded in stereo using 2 ampfarm simulations per part equalling 4 ampfarm sims all in all

& the drumming is bang on the money. I would have played it similarly myself but the whole point is to have other peoples quirks & feel factors involved so I can have a more varied album when completion time comes around (somewhere near 2050....)

Hey Slidey...I am just starting my listen...not even finished the song yet and already, I am impressed with the talent and skills!

The first thought to mind with the guitar playing and tones, hit me of Robin Trower.

I am going to listen a lot more !

Does it count, when it is on auto replay? If it does...you are right !!

It is still going round and round as I redo my place. I love this kind of guitar playing. Kick ass stuff. Makes me get all contorted with air guitar'n as I do my Spring cleaning!!! I am sure the neighbors across the way, who can see in my front door, think I have been having seizures the past couple of hours!!! :D

It has a Santana flavour too...along with Trower and Beck...whatever...if that is you, Slidey playing the axe...you kilt wearing boinging scotchman, can get freaking downriright smooth cool and funky blues'd out with your daddy's magic axe....and those riffs are great..!!

The rhythm guits are on spot too!!

Who is playing the bass, cause it is right on too!! Nice and thick and with a funky heart to it.

That hiss is a rain stick isn't it?....or else the Snakedog putting his sig on this... ;)

There is nothing to nit about...just the rain stick distracting a bit...maybe up it in volume a tad and it will be more defined for what it is, rather than a hiss...?

Rami....right on the spot...most excellent...awesome...body movin' beats. The tones are great on your drums...the toms...the kick(absolutely fantastic!)...the snare...the hats...riding bell....I also hear all kinds of cool percussion touches....percussion chimes....rain stick....castanets....and cabasas. Oh my....especially at 2:00..claves/wood block/rimshots...I am not quite sure which? I am probably wrong on all these percussion instruments.

You and Slidey are perfectly meshed together in the tune....like soulmates...only musically. Kick ass drumming!!

This is one of the best songs I have heard by either of you guys.....I mean it...an in your face ....freaking #1...kickin' ass tune. The timing is perfection and the instruments just come together with heart and skills and talent....as if it were a force of it's own.... Amazing!!!

Kudos to you both!!!

True :)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to true-eurt again.

Thanx True.

All I did was the the drum track and I sent Slidey the raw WAV files of my 4 drum tracks. He deserves all the credit for getting them to sound that huge. And the percussion is all his too.
The man is dangerous....Might have to take out his kneecaps if he gets too good. :D

:D :D :D ...I see what you mean...hmmmmm, take out his kneecaps....sounds like a Snakedog tune in the making.

You are welkom Rami! Wow...they are so good. You have to get credit for the awesome playing you did on the drums. If I sent him 4 drum tracks, there is no way, they would sound big...well...okay...big maybe...big and crappy!!!

You are a gifted drummer Rami.

You guys rawk!

Truexx

I really love all the percussions Slidey did.

Hey Slidey!!....are they real or programed ? They sound excellent!
