I dont know how to search this topic, so forgive me if I repeat.

I have a multi track machine tascam 2488 I am an analog guy in a digital world, so I love the "hands on" ability I have with the benefit of 24bit digital tracking and some simple editing tools. Burning CD's from the same unit is also cool

However, I would like to gradually start doing more on a PC based machine, leveraging greater editing and mixing automation tools as well as plug ins etc

Does anyone know of a hands on front end for a PC, with real channels, eq and faders, inserts for each channel, and 4 aux send and returns. I want to be able to use outboard pre-amps, compressors and effects

It also should be designed to interface directly with the PC, so I guess it should be loaded with some A to D converters, and the ability to control all features of the front end through the PC.

Am I crazy, or does something like this exists for the home/project studio?

Thanks

Being an analog guy no doubt you will already have a mixing console? providing you do, then all you need to do is buy a sound card (Delta 1010, Motu 24 I/O) depends on how many I/O's you would need.

As for the PC, the spec is up to you but being an analog guy something like Cubase 5 would be a good audio sequencer for you, automation, busses, aux, sends etc. etc. is well catered for. If you want to elaborate on your exact needs, now you know it's possible, ask away. i.e what outboard gear are you using, how many I/O do you need etc.
