hi guys, i have a pair of m-audio bx5a's and have had them for a month or so now, but ever since then i've had a very annoying hum coming from them. i use balanced cables which are connected to my fostex mr8hd. Strange too is the fact that if i connect them to a different wall outlet the hum is quieter but still present... any ideas?

ground loop. search ground loop. also amplifier hum.
no crystal ball in troubleshooting, only sometimes you get lucky with an early find. in a word partition.
1) try a different room's ac...or house.
if hum is gone..its your house or room.
if hum isn't gone, its most likely your monitors
2) pickup another set of monitors do they do it?..return them to GC.
if the other monitors don't hum...
process of elimination...etc... there's a million ways to go about it.
dirty power can do dirty things...thats why i'm looking to get some kind of ac power conditioner... i work at a college full of EE's.
i want super clean, super cheap.

make sure you have everything plugged in to the same wall socket and dont daisy chain power strips, the idea is to have all your grounds the same
