For some reason since two days everything I play from my computer has a pretty heavy flanger on it, even the playing of a cd.

I have checked the phase of the speakers, nothing wrong with that, but the flanger is actually too heavy to be caused because of that.

It is not in the studio, just on a regular computer with a normal cheap soundcard with not any effectprocessors or whatever in the neighbourhood, actually only be used for playing music.

Anyone has an idea about what this could be? Thanks!

Double-click the speaker in your system tray and check the properties of your soundcard. Look especially for anything that's related to "virtual 3D" or virtual surround. Disable it.

If you have no such setting, I have no idea what it might be!

Good luck!

do you mean like this sound?

?? ;)

I think it's a feature of low end sound cards ;)

Yea a 3D feature might do it, or maybe it has effects like reverb and flanging that you can select somehow. I thin the drivers for my old mainboard had some goofy stuff like that in there...
