I can only imagine what this amp might sound like. I have hughs and kettners smallest tube amp. Its called a tube addition 20th anniversary amp. It is only 20 watts, but by far the sweetest sounding amp i have ever heard. In fact i now have 2 of them that i run in stereo through the effect loops, man i tell you they are loud and proud, and just oooz tone on both channels. I am mostly a Metal player, but these amp can do anything from jazz/blues/ not sure about country, but it wouldnt suprise me. One 20 watter is as loud as my old 4x12 half stack, and cuts the mix better. very clean sounding.
I would imagine that the triamp markII would be like the best sounding amp on the planet, or at least one of them, just going by what i have. If you got the money, I say go for it.
I tested out a Gretsch 6118 through the Triamp MKII in a quiet room at GC. It's my dream amp. Not only did I fall in love with the power and clarity of tone, but the head design is so cool it's like a work of art. It has a clear glass front that glows a soft blue and you can see all the tubes glowing warmly inside. Some day.... some day....
A friend of mine got the old H&K Triamp. It had a great tone, but I don't recall it being able to quite get the sound I got from my Mesa Triple rectifier at the time. It didn't sound as "raw" as the Mesa did to me. For very tight sounding distortion it should be great though.
As far as versatility goes, it's got everything but the Mesa Road King beat IMO.
