i just got a laptop and my friend let me borrow acid 4.0 until i get home studio 2k4 xl which is on the way to my house in a day or two.

i haven't done much recording but when i plug my roland cube 15 in i get ridiculous clipping. im just plugging the recording out to the mic input on my laptop. i recorded a little earlier today and i didn't get alot of clipping and my songs were legible (just working on arrangements and finishing up some songs for a demo) now i get ridiculous clipping. also earlier when i did some recording the levels were way high up and my amp was set at about 1 on the volume. how do i get this stuff to work?

.....mic input on my laptop......

That is one of your problems. You need to connect through the LINE IN, not through the MIC IN. ;)

You don't have a LINE OUT, LINE IN, and a MIC IN, on your laptop?

Yes.

what you got to do is get your roland's DMA buffer size as high as possible.....that should stop the clippings

Go to START/CONTROL PANEL/SOUNDS

Click ADVANCED.

This opens the mixer.

Click OPTIONS/PROPERTIES and select RECORDING.

Click OK.

Adjust the volume slider.
