Here's our collabitation.. very fun Shaun and I enjoyed working together very much.

As Buddha say "May you find song like a surprise party with hookers and lemon cake for your ears!"

HRC #4: Moira

Well, first off I'm impressed by the amount of Khompewtur Analysis, production notes, the pitchers on that thar website 'n sech.

I'm looking forward to this.

And it's on a server with RESUME !!!

Awesome! Man, these HRC tunes are awesome. Gonna make for a great CD.

I'm really digging this song. Great dynamics. Good use of synths that mix well with the guitars.
I'm craving a little more ambience in the drums. A bit more bass too I think.

Shit loads of cool ideas in this! And not just ideas, they're well excecuted too.
Lead guitar at about 4:28 sounds awesome. Reminds me of something Adam Jones might do, at least the first few seconds.

Ahh the double kick. Nice.

Great job guys! I just listened to WATYF's piano ballad and I can't figure out now if I feel like recording some nice and gentle or loud and aggressive. Good stuff floating around here today!

Sluice, Go with loud and aggressive! LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, the drums probably could have been a tad more ambient. Thanks everyone for listening, and anyone who does in the future. This was a blast and Evan was awesome to colab with. And yeah, the homerecording colab tunes are sounding awesome from everyone who has posted. this was a really cool thing.

Fuckin' A! (30 seconds in)
Keys, too cool :)
Digging the sound of this. Inetersting bass production, fit's the song. Wow, who's singing, sounds great.
Vocals got a bit overwhelmed in a couple of places and I thought I heard a couple of crackles off the top, and through the bridge, ya definately in the lead break, I had to listen twice to hear the lead. The headphones I'm using aren't stellar so that doesn't help. Some of those quiet parts sound a little awkward, but it works. Nice guitar work, lead was cool.
Great job

Komp & Analytical RULE

Wow..................my favourite part was the vocals.
What a GREAT job you guys did altogether.
Yiu should work together more:)
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

LOUD SHEESH I GAR-UN-TEEEE ;)

Had to turn down the vol on Winamp to make it thru .. but only because the song was too BIG to fit between these ears!! :D Hey, I need these suckers for a few more years! ;)

At first, the noisy amp sound in the beginning was going to get a comment... but then the drums come in, and it's the MegaDethMetallicaProdigy thing going...

Drums remind me of those FRANKENKITS CrankyOne always seems to come up with...

Sweet effort... GREAT off beat (non-4/4) rhythm in a 4/4 song... Zeppelin/Tool/Tom Gagne-esque....

I love that scary riff... kind of low... the one that comes in before 1:45... GREAT vocal chops...

Some tightening required, maybe... a few cleaner (lower noise-floor) voc tracks, or something... to get rid of some of the build-up.... there's so many LAYERS in this cake.

Dammit... B.SABBATH would be headbanging and doing the secret devil sign to this (the "hang-ten" thing ;))

(Speaking of sam... PM'ed him... he'd be around more, but 1) his stuff always seems to need vocals & he can't really record vocs right now... so it would be more instrumentals... 2) His MP3 player makes everything sound like s*** so he doesn't usually comment...)

After 5:09... the cymbals could come up a db or two...

GREAT JOB!!

Chad

BTW - anyone know how to get lemon cake out of your ears? the hooker wouldn't fit :D

Holy shit this kicks ass! Yeah, the synths are so on par, they're not overdone at all! I agree with Sluice though, with having a bit more atmosphere around the drums and some more bass. and it IS loud. Good stuff! The strings are an awesome touch, too!

Damn... I can't wait until i get the gear to compete with you guys on this stuff lol!

Vocals

I think the beginning is actually what you wanted, guitar sounds a tiny bit muffly ... not 'grunting' like it might ...

but it fits sonically and provides great great contrast with the screaming mids that come next. That's a searing hot kind of whatever the hell that is.

The keyboard bleeping instrument is not cutting through the mix, it's a little lost.
I would bring down that continuous 'cymbal' ? a bit.

OMG !!!

At 0:45, The vocals, I can understand the words FOUL ! PENALTY !!!!

;-)

By 1:10 it's apparent there might be a little too much effects on your vocal because #1 you are a good singer, and #2 we of course want to hear YOU, and the sibilance caused by the drenching of your vocal in reverb makes it a bit hard to understand.

I'm listening hard here. With monitors and then with two different pairs of cans.

I should not be challenged and 'dared' to understand your words. The majority of listeners are going to ignore your vocals, they become just another instrument, so why did you write words anyway ... why waste our time with the words, if you are not going to let us hear them ???

This of course is IMHO, and this genre probably requires that the words be unintellibible ... what the hell do I know about this kind of music and it's market ???

Now at 2:02, the words are difficult to pull out of all this effect and noise ...
but in this genre, I understand that's not totally, necessary ...

At 2:31, I can understand the words, fist listening, but I'm struggling. It's the sibilance introduced by the massive amounts of effects.

<--- swings his fucking hair and moshes ... righto matey ?

Now at 3:00, simply can't understand the words, and it's wide open terroritory, the vocal is totally exposed here, what is your listener to do here, if they can't understand the words.

Do you have a vocal hook in this song ?
Is the vocal simply another 'instrument' in this song ?

Around 3:00 this is a very well written and mixed string sample fill there. It's a good musical 'suspension' of the previous mateial, and a good let down and resolution into the continuing material, very nice 'tying' together with the little sample.

If the drums are gated, they sound great ... whatever.

At 3:36, I could listen a thousand times with my best cans, and I'd never understand the words.

Maybe you do need to create some headroom for the vocal. Maybe I'm just not clued in.

IMHO the quality of your vocal DEMANDS that you reduce the amount of affects on your vocal, it's simply not necessarey, you are too good for that. It's ok to make the vocal interesting, that's fine ... but to hide it from us ?

Like I say, maybe I'm clueless when it comes to this kind of sonic anarchy.

It is a powerful sonically massive song and production, it DOES blow away the listener. Power, weight, mass ... yes ...

It's well written, great performances.

IMHO -IMHO -IMHO -IMHO -IMHO -IMHO -IMHO -IMHO -

Woah!

Holy Shit!
This is frickin' AWESOME!!!!

Super energy... love that wall of sound...great song fellas.....
Performance, tracking and mix are all exceptional....
I don't see how you could improve it.....

Jesus Christ.....
turning..it up.......

room starts to shake....
a little more....
wallpaper starts to bubble on the walls....
a little mooooore......
glass shatters throughout the studio.....

a little more......
there is no threshold he cannot withstand...or so he thinks........
joros skin peels from his face as a smile comes across what is left of his face as his head throbs and pivots to and fro in the Headbangers death throw........

he grins....devilishly as he enters Nirvana......
his children start to cry.....they just don't understand... :D

Joe :D

right up there with some of the best collabs I've heard on this board!

Who did what? Guitars sound nice.. Vocals very good.. synths = cool!

My main beef is the drums.. they don't sound as good as the rest of the music and there are a few timing mistakes.. Also there's a lack of bottom end and a very bright sound to this.. Almost to the point of crackle.. Actually, there is crackle.. especially noticeable @4:30..

great collab gentlemen! I really like the song.. You guys make a good team..

I'll give this 5

Brilliant collaboration guys, just awesome...
I'm loving every second of it....

Everything sounds great to me....

The synths are way cool...

Killer vocals!!

On my third listen...

Man this Rocks!!!!

Aewsome rockin' son-of-a-BITCH!!!!!!!
Geez...that's happenin' guys.
I'm not gonna nit-pick these collabs 'cause the important thing is the process ya' know? But it seems like I heard a couple of timing issues and that's about it. A big wall of sound.......really good.......I like the softer spots a lot too.

Man..........these collabs for the challenge are hittin'!

Whoa! Great guitar sound on there! I agree with all the previous comments on this one and I'm kind of going the Lt. Bob route here ... Just the fact that these collaborations are happening kicks some serious ass, and I think that with doing a collaboration, it brings out the best in the parties collaborating since they really want to get it right. What we end up with are some serious, kick ass recordings, and this one (along with Joro's and partners collaboration on the other thread) is really just the tip of the iceberg!

Just excellent! I too am going to make a "collaboration" comp CD from all of these!

Congrats to Khomputer and Shaun!

Okay, now details...who did what, etc...

:D
