I don't think I'd walk out of the audio shop without the fireport, the drag and drop would be such a savior. Sitting an listening to the whole project just to press stop on the DAW does not add any value to the process. I do that now with practice tapes twice a week and it drives me crazy. I also lug a MD8 roadcase up and down two flights of stairs to just record stereo sketch jam recordings. But that's for another thread.

Thanks for all your valuable input towards my HD24 future, all I need now is to decide what 24ch mixer best suits my needs.

rock out \m/  \m/

Nothing against the fireport, but I use the initial listen to start setting up the mix.

I was just looking into what gear I'm gonna have to have this year and it's rediculous. My audio card doesn't work with OSX 10.3.9 and I'm gonna have to mail it to Califorina to be looked at. I'm gonna have to replace it unless some really cool software comes out for OS9. It's a m-audio card so I will want to purchase Pro tools for it, to run pro tools M-powered I will need a newer Mac. So it looks like everything I have for computer recording is useless and has to be replaced. You still wonder why I'd like to take the computer out of the recording equation?

When I switched to the HD24 from the PC I used the Fireport to transfer the files to PC to clean the tracks, then transfered them back to the HD24. Your PC is not at a total loss for your switch. You just need a good editor for your computer.

I guess your right, I could run DP4 or something like that. I was kinda hung up on protools but if I can find a DAW that's not hardware dependent that works well what the hell?
