This new contest is too quickly up for me. I can only manage a song or two a year. I look forward to some great listening experiences though!
Excellent stuff so far.

I was kinda thinking the same thing Ray.

Maybe from here out We can do a monthly contest? That way It will induce some people to get off there butts and get some recording done.

Not to mention that people aren't posting there recording gear. It should be made mandatory!! :)

One entry left - I'm up for a couple of hours then back to bed. The fever is something else with this flu. >:-(

Oh this is the real contest! SB copied it and is running with it in the same forum.

Lies: Wow, great guitar tones, Joey. Has an AIC vibe to it, not least of which the vibrato on the vocal line. Interesting use of the reverse cymbal to take us into verse 2. I like the quiet section pre-solo. Nice work on teh solo, too. :)

Transcendental Medication: I can't help but think of John Williams' Close Encounters score when listening to the intro. Cool and interesting use of sound effects and silence. PF influence is front and center. Cool video, bro. :)

Serendipity: Cool video about an attractive girl who carries a violin bow instead of a purse. She breaks into a church and to her surprise, finds a violin somebody left on the floor. Ignoring the candle some irresponsible asshole left burning on somebody's drumkit, she plays the violin for a while and then departs, leaving her bow next to the violin on the floor, where it will presumably be found by the violin's owner when he returns from the bathroom, causing befuddlement. :) Nice work, Gecko. Typically understated and well-executed.

Rollerblades: This reminds me of the Dead Milkmen with a baritone backup singer. Bitchin' Camaro, indeed.

Lutope: I mean no offense at all when I say that this reminds me of hitting the "Demo" button on my Yamaha PSR-400. Competent arrangement and delivery. Needs a stronger melody. Keep working on that album!

Pot of Gold: Sort of an ominious tone for a song about finding lost treasure... :) I love the vocal melody. The delivery reminds me of the better stuff from PIL. Curious, what effects are you using on your vocals? Sounds cool. Brad did a good job on the solo. Good stuff.

Loser: Nice mix, Chili. Say, is that a Jazz Chorus I hear? The phrase "Love from a Wire" holds promise. Interesting lyrics all around. Personal story? Nice work.

Stay: I don't do Facebook.

Cat Pissed on my Bass: Dude. ROFL. Extra points for incorporating the word "piddle". The only thing it needs is an obnoxious baritone sax solo. :)

Stagefright: Seems fairly relaxed and serene for a song about fear. Very pretty. Nice playing throughout. Thanks for sharing this.

The Miles Gone By: Wow, this is terrible. Sounds like somebody fisting a cat.

Back at You: Donloading at 19 kb/sec, this had better be good. Just kidding. I'll add some comments once I can give a listen. Downloading to desktop now.

*edit*

Awesome slide guitar, awesome rhythm piano. Nice transition from slide to standard for the lead. Who is singing? I like. Great mix, TR. Still using that C1000 on snare?

Thanks for the kind words Casey. That's a good friend and old band mate Joe McCarron. I think we may be starting up a new project soon. And on the C-1000, yep. That and an MD-441 seem to do it for the stuff I usually track. The only problem with the C-1000 on snare is drummers always knock the wind screen off the damn mic.

joeym - Lies
Big guitars dude! Great change ups. What can I say. It's slick. You guys got the metal thing goin' on man.

beezelbubba - Transcendental Medication
Zamfir meets Pink Floyd. Excellent sir.

gecko zzed - Serendipity
Wow. That sounds just buttery good. That piano is VST? This is jus t crazy good.

spiderlandcapt - Rollerblades
Ya know, I love the Kinks but maybe I'm just gettin' old. Pretty cool just the same.

commanda - Lutope (Living Up To Other Peoples Expectations)
I can only echo Supercreep's comment.

PoeticIntensity - Pot of Gold
This is anoyher REALLY strong tune. Agian, BIG guitars. I love it. Heavy but it doesn't put me on suicide watch. Really good tune guys.

Chili - Loser.
Lush guitars in the intro. Man that bass has an edge to it. Sounds like a Rick. Solid tune man.

brettbuc - Stay
Sorry for your loose sir. My mom passed away a few short years ago. Nice sentiment. I bet she'd be proud.

crazydoc - The Cat Pissed on my Bass
I just spit beer thru my nose. Gruesome turn of phrase. I LOVE it. I got an eye on you.

Armistice - Stagefright
The first thing that turned me on to guitar was this kind of stuff. Great tune well played.

Supercreep - The Miles Gone By
Dude! I bow to the Master. That's dangerously good. I mean label good. This reminds of a band from the
70's (I can't pull the name out now, wait,,,Ambrosia, that's it). You got my vote.

Thank you! Your listening and commenting on everyone's entry has prompted me to really want to do the same thing. Not now, though. I must sleep.

The effect on the vocals is simply overdriving my Golden Age Pre-73 preamp. I use a MXL V77 tube mic into the 73, into the computer. The effect is entirely the overdriven 73. I'll be re-doing the vocals, but it takes the right evening to get that much emotion into the mic. Hopefully it'll be soon.

Thanks again for the listen!
