Damn, those are some depressing lyrics! Good tune, man. I like the acoustic intro a lot.

It was during my divorce. I didn't comprehend at the time how fucking awesome divorce is!:D
Nevertheless, I was really pleased with how the song came out.

Nope - this thread will only be here until we fill the 12 limit. Then a new thread for the poll....and it will have the links too..

VomitHat - wow... I take it this is part of a larger work? Very War of The Worlds... too short man... who was doing the waily falsetto bits?
Thanks. Vox are all me. Yep, it's part 4 of 4. Parts 1, 2, and 3.

The track sounds like part of a grander project, along the lines of "The Wall". Ominous and foreboding!!
Thanks. Yup, it is grander. (See above.)

Way to take charge ido :D.

I am working on my first new tune in months :) but will likely not finish it any time soon :(, and I'm also trying to get to a collab with someone, so....If it's ok, I am going to dig deep into the vault...all the way back to 2009 for this one . I have to warn any sensitive souls that there is plenty of profanity on this - sorry.

Not a great production or arrangement by any stretch, but I think it's pretty funny. It's a song about the mp3 mixing clinic.

I remember the drums were programmed on a Boss Dr 550 drum machine. The bass is a Peavey Milestone bass through a behri mic 100 pre for fuzz. Guitar is a '68 gibson sg special and any mic'ed parts were captured with an S M 5 7. Any delays were from an ibanez analog delay pedal and all other fx were from some digital multi fx guitar pedal. It was tracked and mixed on a tascam 688 8-track cassette and run through a teac graphic eq and recorded on a standalone cd recorder. I ripped a 128 mp3 from the cd.

SoundClick: ode to the clinic

I like it! Sounds like early RHCP if they'd been a grunge band instead of funk! :D

I can see where Gecko got the inspiration...

I like the second verse... "no welcome in its lean".... excellent stuff gecko-man... :drunk:

Okie dokie.

ido1957 - Overtime- Solid tune man. Definately has that ZZ Top sound with a great hook. You really rocked this one.

beezelbubba - A Cold Empty Place- Dark mood to this one. I dig the organ and guitars. Real interesting chord changes. I love the lead part.

gecko zzed - House- Wow! I definately hear the Tom Waits meets Crocodile Dundee thing. You really know how to get a creamy sound. This a REALLY strong tune. The steel is too cool for school. The lyrics are first rate.

supercreep - A Measure of Salt- This rocks! You know how to put a tune together. Those verses just stick in my head. VERY, VERY solid tuneage. Shread city man.

Armistice - Damaged- Acoustics sound great. I love the harmonies. Another dark tune. Love it.

VomitHatSteve -Arrival- Sounds like it belongs in a rock opera or part of a larger concept album. Pretty cool.

crazydoc - Bullshit Bible Blues- You need to perform this one for those idiots that protest at soldier's funerals.

heatmiser - ode to the clinic- JEEZUS! The clinic finally crystalized into words. Faith No More at Home Recording. EXCELLENT!!

you can just give my prize money to the tornado victims.

The Cookie Crumbles

goodnight forever sunshine

I've been working everyday for them since Saturday morning for about 12 to 15 hours a day.

Now to your tunage. The first four and a half minutes just about drove my eardrums out of my nose! I kept waiting for it to take off. Sorry but I guess I'm not much of an Electronica guy.

Nice fly over intro like Station to Station on 78. Or the bombers at the beginning of a Motorhead gig. It takes a loong time for the intro to resolve into something else. I like where it went but I'm not so keen on the samples used to get there.

This is cool man. I think I read someone mention the '60's in reference to your material, and usually when people say that, I don't hear it, but here I do. In a good way. I love the melody and the backing vocals are awesome. There is a nice contrast here between some really happy sounds and really downer lyrics - this creates an interesting tension to what might otherwise just be a straightforward pop tune or whatever. Well done.

Nice. ido is layin' down the law - way to be decisive :).

Just giving overtime another spin. Sounds fantastic. Thick and creamy guitar. ZZ Clapton? Eric Top? You're probably sick of those comparisons, aren't you? Really though, it's like a zz top tune with eric on lead and vocals. Just a very well developed piece you have there.

Song contests are dumb....so here's mine.:D

I think the booze soaked vocals are very well done here man. Love the organ sounds on this. You put it under classic rock, which at first I wasn't getting, but it definitely ventures into '70's rock territory there with the dual guitars and stuff. Love the guitar tone on the outro. A well crafted song to be sure.
