How would you connect digital piano to interface?

My wife's Clavinova has three types of output - MIDI, L/R aux out, and USB (to device). What would be the best way to go about connecting it to this interface to record audio? http://www.amazon.com/Tascam-US1641...UTF8&coliid=I1POSFFF3R3T1B&colid=L7EQ0F24PCSZ

I'm really bad about not being able to figure things out without putting my hands/eyes on them myself, and I don't own that interface. Trying to put together a wish list that includes all the cables.
 
Do you just want to record the audio, or do you want to record the midi data?
 
Left and right out to two separate inputs of the interface should do the trick them.

I agree - ins to outs would be the proper way. :D

I should've clarified my question... will that interface a) accept 1/4" from the L/R outs or do I need a 1/4" to X cable or adapter, and b) I wondered if the USB out on the piano was an option.
 
Yup, just 1/4" into the interface. Not sure about the USB, it's probably just for MIDI data.

What's the model number of the piano?
 
Tetra - It's a Yamaha Clavinova 300 series... think it's a 340. It's got a USB to device, USB to host, MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, MIDI THRU, and the L/R aux.
 
If its the CLP 340 I just took a quick look at the manual and I think the USB is only for transfering songs back and forth and backing up your data on the piano. Sounds like you can record a song on the piano and transfer it (in MIDI format) to a PC.

So if you wanted to record the MIDI data direct to a PC or play a MIDI file from your PC you would need to connect it to a MIDI interface, which the tascam unit you linked to is. SO you would just need 2 MIDI cables.

So if you recorded MIDI you could edit (fix flubs, arrange the parts etc) the recorded MIDI data and replay it back through the piano and then record the audio.
 
It said you could hook the piano up directly to the PC via a USB cable and play (but there was a long list of things that could go wrong/bugs, so that doesn't sound like a great option), so that's what got me to thinking about the USB option.

For MIDI, I'd need a cable from the out on the piano, to the interface... the second for...?

One cable for the output of the piano, the other for the input coming from the computer.

Just to be clear MIDI is only data, as an example a c note played for so long with a certain velocity. So you could record piano MIDI and play it back as violin for example. Or you could download MIDI files off the net and play them back through your piano. Or like I said you could record piano on the PC, fix the mistakes or change the arangement and then play it back through the piano. So to play a MIDI file from your computer through your piano you need that second cable.
