Didn't a fat guy win american idol this year? ...
Yeah...but he looked pretty young to me
This is meant as a legitimate question...what is he doing with hs new found success? Is it working out for him? I really have no idea as I am not following it...didn't watch the show. I know enough about it to know that it isn't the style of music that I typically listen too. That's why I have no idea.
I just think back to the old Star Search days and just because one was "discovered" there did not mean there was large market success. I think of two singers that one that contest, Sam Harris & Durell Coleman. They both had great voices, but they certainly are not household names. I think Sam is doing a lot on Broadway and Durell is still gigging around somewhere (I actually bought his album on vinyl way back when). I'm not saying they aren't successful, because obviously, they are still working in the biz (which is more than I can say

). They just never made it "big time" IMHO. Then of course there was Sawyer Brown (and others I'm sure) who did make it big time. That was just kind of the frame for my question.

.
On the other hand...Buddy Jewel (now we are in my genre) won the Nashville Star contest. He's been a demo singer her in Nashville for quite a few years and is a pretty good songwriter. He's making a bit of a splash now and he's no
spring chicken and a bit on the pudge side if I remember corrrectly. Hell...maybe I ought to enter the contest

Maybe there is hope for me yet
PS... I'm old (40) and pudgy too (although I just started diet & workouts today because I may have a fairly high profile, for me anyway, gig on December 14)
