Greetings-
I learned of a free vocal exciter plug-in downloaded it. Can't seem to make it work.
From the beginning, how do I download plugins (to what folder) and how do I add them to my CE effects folder??
Thanks!!

First of all, is it a DirectX plugin or a VST plugin or something else?

If it is a DirectX plugin, you need to run the program that installs the plugin first.

If it is a VST plugin, you need to "wrap" the plugin with a converter. Check out www.thedirectxfiles.com for more info on wrapping plugins.

If its some other kind of plugin, I don't think you can use it with CEP.

Once you have the effect loaded on your system, you need to go into edit view and then choose "Refresh Effects List" from the Effects menu for it to show up.

Yes, this seems like a lot of work to make it happen, but the advantage is that CEP won't spend time every time you start the program looking around just to see if you have happened to install a new effect.

Normally when you download the install file for the plug-in and install it it should be automatically be placed in the correct folder.

Btw where did you get that plug-in?

Oh, don't kick yourself too hard -- I looked around for a day or so on the forums before I figure the refresh effects out.

I love using the frequency stimulator plugin -- I especially like it when I double a track. I put it on just one of the tracks and it makes the sound different/larger -- then I can play around with positioning them in the soundfield.

hmmm...it's there now, but seems to be wacked out. When I apply it to a WAV, it erases all sound, or shortens a long WAV to a millisecond...
What did I do wrong? Could it just be a currupted download?

Smelly, when its working, it takes your content and adds high frequency content to it, such as adding upper harmonics to a lower signal. Used sparingly, it can brighten a sound without using eq.

Mountain, glad its showing up - bummer that its not working right. What sample rate are you using it at? I've only used it at 44.1 and 48 kHz.

44.1, strange that when I apply it, it wipes out my WAV...I'll try to download it again. Like I said, it's there.
Any suggestions for sites to download free plugins like this one? Is there another site I can get the freq. stimulator from? I'm twitching to try it on vocals!
