How to use outboard gear with Logic

How can I use outboard gear like EQ, Compression, etc with Logic without "printing" to the actual recorded track? In other words record a track dry and add Eq later using outboard gear?

Out of Logic>into outboard gear>back into Logic on a different track then you came out of Logic with.

..or am I missing something?
