Is there any software out there that allows you to gradually slow down the tempo (and pitch) of a section of an audio clip? I am doing music for a movie and basically I am trying to transition into a song that is about a 1/2 step out of key. (I am using Nuendo)

That's going to be heard as a rather dissonant modulation and would have a definite effect on the mood of the film. Instead, I'd simply change the pitch of the latter piece. That technique was used to good effect in "Strawberry Fields Forever", but in modern software you don't have to change tempo along with pitch.

If you want to use your idea, Wavelab has a function called Pitch Bend that can gradually change pitch, so maybe Nuendo has that as well. If you also need to change tempo, you could do a few successive Time Stretch operations on adjacent measures until you hit the proper tempo for the new tune.

Or you could write a transition piece . . .

to get renegade on the project, you'll need some kind of doppler emulation software. Then pass your stereo mix selection through it to see what you get. As to how much of a change, you'll have to experiment.

That can also be translated into software that emulates digital turntables (plugin). Similar effect, but not quite the same result.
