How to tell a 58 is fake...

Just a simple question about Shure's Sm-58
I just saw one in an "obscure" store. Is in a black
and white box with the shure logos and packaging.
Comes with a manual, shure clip and shure black pouch.
It's made in Mexico. I'm thinking this is the SM-58LC
without cord, but nothing about LC written on the Box.
I suspect it's it's a fake. Arent 58's made in U.S.A?
If not are these Mexican ones bad mics compared to the original
U.S. made ones. It sells for about 28 dollars in my country.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Blue Bear.

The other 58's sold here are about 100 plus dollars.
I don't know why this guy hasn't increased his price.
I'll take a look at it again. Look at other units from
other stores just to be sure.

This just maybe my first Pro quality mic.
Thanks again.

There are replicas out there so watch out for them, Ive got an shs 500 which is identical in every way , even dismantaled and sounds the same as well. but its made by CAD, so the company is pretty good that made it.

The Shure SM57 are made in Mexico and I'm pretty sure the SM58's are made in Mexico too.

On another note... it seems most counterfeits (mic's, etc) are made in China... only I don't think they call them counterfeits in China... as I understand it.... it's a honor.
