Hello. I'm rather new to this BBS... but here goes.

I recently downloaded an MP3 of a full concert by a band I like. It's CD quality sound (surprising for live music) and it's sampled at 256kb/s, and it's 25 minutes long.

Here's what I want to do: take the full mp3, and split it up into tracks, which could then be played on a CD. For instance... if I want to listen to all the tracks on the cd, I start at track 1. I want the CD to flow, with no spaces between tracks. But, if I want to start on, say track 8, I can do so.

Sometimes comedy CD's or Live CD's are done this way.

So, how would I go about doing this? What would the procedure be? What would the best program be to use?

Thanks for all your help and sorry for so many questions!

Well, first you need a few programs.

http://www.mp3towave.com/

for converting the mp3 to a wav file,

and

http://www.goldwave.com/release.html

For editing 2 track wav file.

Both of these programs are shareware, I'm not sure of the limitations of either. Other 2 track editors are: Soundforge & Steinberg Wavelab.

Once you convert the mp3 to a wav file, you open this up in your 2 track editor, and chop it into whatever sections you want - Each time, saving it as a seperate wav.

When you have all the individual wav's - arrange the order in adaptec ez-cd creator, or hotburn or whatever program your using to burn audio discs.

Howdy,
Soundforge will do the lot as long as you have the MP3 plug-in. It will open the file, then allow you to edit it in Stereo * save as .wav

You'd then need CD-burning software that will allow wav files to be burnt to the CD as CD audio, such as Adaptec Easy CD Creator or the like.
