how to send to monitor only one track of multimix8 usb2 ?

I own a multimix8 USB2. Is it possible to monitor only one channel with this mixer ?

Several instruments and one mic are connected. I would like to ear only the mic in a monitor (speaker or the headphone) and of course all devices in the main mix.
This way, the singer could hear himself better.

I thought that maybe the pre fader "A aux" could help me doing this. But I cant' understand how nor if I need an external device connected to "aux sends" to succeed.

I also have a MicroMon from behringer. This allow a single mic monitoring (by headphone or by speaker). This already good but in this case the singer can't hear the possible Alesis effects applied to his voice...

I'm not sure of the ins & outs of this particular mixer but you should be able to create any monitor mix you like using the aux send. There'll be an 'aux' volume control on every channel so it's probably as simple as turning up the instrument you want and down all the others.

Auxiliary outputs are usually mono and line level so do need to go into a separate amp or active speaker or if you don't need to monitor the main mix and you're using some sort of hi-fi amp to power your monitors you can always route it through a spare channel.

OK, I suppose the controls are the "A aux pre" knobs on each channel. The ouptut for this is normally the "aux send A" on the top of the mixer (near the phone jack entry).

I try this with a Hi-Fi amp and lounge speakers : it works ! 5 stars big hand for you. Thks

I notice that the FX of the Alesis are not send to the Hi-Fi amp. I guess it's because the "aux send" knob is "pre" so the sound is only customized by the EQ. Right ?

I suppose the "ctrl room out" won't help me neither, it doesn't seem to recognize the "A send pre" knob. "ctrl room" sends all the mix ?

what do you mean by spare channel ? On the mixer itself ?

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. The set up I (and I think many home recordists) use is a hi-fi amp & speakers connected to my PC for monitoring purposes. This means if I want to take a feed direct from the mixer instead of via the PC I can put it on one of the other channels (phono, CD, Tape, Aux etc) on my amp and just swap between the two using the selector on the front.

If you want the onboard effects on your monitors, have you tried using the 'post' aux output instead? Depending on how your mixer is built this might have the onboard effects unit already applied. However, usually where you can apply the effects unit to an auxilliary send you get a seperate control, which I can't see on your mixer.

I did try it now and no it doesn't includes onboard effects.

At beginning of this topic, I didn't mentioned clearly that my goal was to give a monitor on stage. I'am drummer and I do backing vocals. I don't have already a monitor speaker. And as I may understand I'll also need a preamp, so I'll make my test and maybe my next gig with a guitar amp (that won't be used that day for guitar). I'll plug i the Aux send A to the Aux input of the guitar amp. This seems to work.
