Hi,

I just bought a Korg X5 synthesizer. I downloaded patches from the net in .syx format. I opened Sonar 3 and opened the midi dump window. I opened the syx file and press the send sysx button. A blue line appeared for a short time but nothing happened to my synth. Did the sound go in my synth? How do I load patches in .syx into the synth?

Thanks,

Just press play in Sonar. The page you found is for SysEx out, not in.

BTW, it's always a good idea to back up your existing patches before dumping in new ones -- incoming patch dumps usally overwrite your internal memory.

Well, first make sure you set X5 to recieve MIDI exclusive messages. In X5, press Global and go to page MIDI Filter. Set EX: to ENA (enable). Usualy it's DIS (disable) by default.

How do you connect X5 to your PC? I mean do you connect it using Korg PCI/F port (to host) or regular MIDI connection?

I got Korg O5R/W which is 1/2 rack module version of X5, and never had any problem with it. I'll be here if you need some help :)

Thanks a lot, it was no evidence that EX:DIS was the wrong setting.
