How to record to a Tascam porta02

Hey guys, Can someone help me?

I am looking at buying a Tascam porta02 or a Tascam porta02 mkII to record demo stuff, what's the difference? Also, I know both have the capability of recording 2 tracks simultaneously. I want to be able to record my vocals and guitar at the same time. That shouldn't be a problem. I also want to be able to record my vocals and keyboard at the same time. That shouldn't be a problem either. My second question is this: Can I hook my keyboard directly into the Tascam (either 02 or 02mkII) through one of the 1/4" line input jacks or do I need some type of box to go through such as a di box or some type of midi box? I have an Alesis QS7.

Any feedback would be apprectiated.

Howdy Tasha,
For the little extra they cost you might want to check out the TASCAM 424 mkII. I have seen them for $300.00 at Musicians Freind. I think that you would be much happier with the greater flexability.

You can hook up your keyboard directly into either of the portas, but like Grizzly said, you may want to look into thte 414 or 424. The porta 02 has a good sound, but little flexibility.

yes it is my auction...i dont want to sell the machine but i have to. i thought maybe someone on here would be interested. sorry i should have said that. i hate to see it go. i apologize again for not telling you it was my auction
