Hello,
first of all excuse my bad english
I'm going to mix some rap tracks and id like to do it on a four track. i read all FAQs about analog multitrack recorders on this page but its all like a big cloud for me.
I already have a MPC2000xl and a boss sp-303 (my drum machines) and a 12 channel analog mixer made by mackie. Im going to buy a cheap fourtrack recorder in the next days.
Can you tell me how to record and mix?
I think i have to mix my tracks of the drumsequence in my MPC via the MPCs own mixer and then go to channel 1 of my multitrack. The same with my samples, bass etc. and put them on track 2. so i can record the vocals on 3 and 4.
Is that right?
The problem is, that in my mpc i cant use a compresser or something else.
Maybe its better to put all tracks from my mpc to different mixer tracks of my mackie, then add effects to them and then mix it down to 1 track of my multitrack recorder.. but then i cant change any effects later on.
I dont know how to work the best way, maybe you can tell me..
At the end the mixed song is going to be recorded to my pc or to another tapedeck.
